What is the best way to attach ribbon to the bottom of a fondant cake

I put contact paper on the backside of the ribbon so none of the oils from the cake soaked through and left grease stains on the satin ribbon. Then I just cut the ribbon to length + 1 inch. I used double sided tape to tape the overlap together and a little bit of frosting to "glue" the ribbon in place.

I'm not an expert, but that worked well for me. icon_biggrin.gif

contact paper is already sticky on one side......you just lay the ribbon on the contact paper and push it down and them cut around the ribbon leaving it looking like plain ribbon on one side and clear plastic type backing on the other side......you can always use little dots of royal icing as glue!! to glue the ribbon on

Ok, I figured it. Thank you for the help. the contact paper made the ribbon s much easier to work with. Great tip.
