I am making a wedding cake in September. The bride is interested in a lavender cake- Anyone make this type before?
I found vanilla/lavender, honey lavender and chocolate lavender recipes I may try prior to the wedding. She wants a 3-tiered cake.

Any suggestions or ideas is greatly appreciated.

Am I understanding you right? Does she want the cake to have a lavendar taste?

Correct, just realized I should have specified. She is looking for Lavender flavored cake. This will be rustic barn retreat wedding.

I'd like to be there to taste that wedding cake. Surely someone on CC has made one. The lavendar/vanilla sounds delicious!

Here's an interesting one from the internet:

The ones you listed sound awesome. I love lavender as a flavor. It goes great with chocolate.

Does the bride not want those combinations?

Why don't you just add lavender oil to a white cake as a test? You can fill it with chocolate ganache or mousse. Or you can flavor the chocolate instead.

Good luck

Just make sure the lavender oil you use is for culinary use.

Thanks all! I think I will give the three types a shot, one for each tier. Should be interesting! I use Herb de provence a lot in cooking but had not thought of using lavender in baking, should be good.
