Does anyone have any suggestions on the most inexpensive way to make BC and fondant for using on cake dummies. I know you should not use flavorings and probably buy ps and shortening from BJs or Cosco. Any other suggestions?

Thanks! icon_smile.gif

My guess is MMF would be the cheapest...

I've made MMF before, I hadn't thought of that. You're right...it doesn't need gelatin or glucose...etc.

Thanks!

what about using margarine instead of butter for the buttercream. unless it affects the texture. that i don't know of. but if it doesn't, that's a really cheap alternative!

I've heard of people making their BC with margarine instead of butter. I'de have to try it as well as compare prices with shortening.
