Okay experts...I am trying to make a cake...white 12 x 3inch pan. I used 2 boxes of DH white batter. I used 1 flower nail in the center. I baked at 335 degrees. After almost an hour I noticed the top kind of cracking so I thought it was done....took it out...pressed down with towel to level...it wasn't quite done so I put it bake in a few more minutes...It just seems so brown on the outside....It looks beautiful but will it be to dry? I want to stack 2 of this size so I need to bake another...anyone have any suggestions? Is this one ok or do I have to toss it? Thank you for any suggestions....

I'm not sure but isn't cracking a sign of overbeating? or overbaking? You usually trim off the top so if it's a little brown that will be cut off the cake anyway right? Especially if your going to bake another one to put on top.

I'm not a culinary chef so I could be completly wrong.
