I made a 10in. round by 2 inch deep cake double layer....What size box would I use?? The ones I have is too small or not to deep.....GRRRRR
Thanks
Betty
It depends on the size of your board. You want the board to be snug. If it's too high, just tape the box open enough to accomodate the height and cover the opening with Saran Wrap. Tape the Saran to keep it sanitary and neat. Customers love to get a peep at the cake anyway, no one minds having too big a cake!
it is for my cake class, since it is fondant, should i go ahead and cover it with sran wrap????
I sure be glad this cake is done, it is giving me a headahce.....lol

Hey there,
I normally buy the boxes that are 5" high, as my cakes are normally 4" high. The size of the box will depend on the size of the base board, normally 2 or 3" wider than the cake itself.
For my specialty cakes, I just use a box that accomodates the base and then wrap it in saran wrap...Pretty safe as it keeps everything away from the cake when transporting it.
I would go ahead and cover it, the plastic shouldn't stick to the fondant if it's already set. Don't sweat the small stuff!
