Does anyone have any ideas for a hockey rink or hockey team cake for an end of season party? I like the rink idea but am unsure of how to get the "ice" effect. nd what about the boards and benches? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as this cake is for the weekend of April 3.

I'm thinking you make it look like one of those table top hockey games.

For ie you could try making a sheet of clear candy/sugar and placing it ontop of buttercream with the lines and everything on it. it's probibly tricky to do, but would look cool.

I'm going to be making a stadium cake in July for my DH and I'm using these instructions. I think it would also work as a hockey rink if you stopped at pic 15. The rink could be white with a thin coat of piping gel on top to make it shiny.

Thanks guys for all your suggestions. I love the stadium but I think I will modify it a bit. I will post pictures when I'm done.

Thanks, Lynn

Hi guys. Well, I finally finished it. I decided to try and combine a rink with the stadium instructions from Lisa. Didn't come out exactly the way I wanted but I learnt what to do for next time!! Thanks to all who sent pictures, gave ideas or links. Everything was greatly appreciated.

Thanks for looking. I posted it under theme cakes/ 3D sports

Hi, I had looked at your photo when I first came on this morning and admired it! You made it so personal with the names, etc., I am sure that everyone will love it! Good job!

Each cake we make is a learning experience, I am a new decorator myself, and feel there is so much to learn, but it is such fun along with the work!

I posted a picture today too, in the Easter section. Janice aka veejaytx
