ACan i replace a cup of milk with a cup of orange concentrate to change the cake to an orange cake?
AYou can but the orange flavor won't be very strong. I would suggest adding a box of orange jello to the recipe too. That will give it a strong orange flavor.
Ai think if you add the zest of an orange with the concentrate -- you'll get there -- rub the zest into some sugar to release all the oil --
if you do simple syrup splashes and a little alcohol is ok -- similar to the alcohol in vanilla extract -- do a grand Marnier splash to cap it off
This is my favorite orange cake recipe. It is light and flavorful.
3 cups cake flour (12 oz)
2 1/2 tsps baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 cup (2 sticks, 8 oz) unsalted room temp butter
1 1/8 cup sugar
1/8 orange jello powder (can replace with sugar, but gives nice orange color to cake)
4 eggs
2 tsps finely grated orange zest
1/3 cup strained fresh orange juice
2/3 cup whole milk
1/4 tsp orange oil
Standard creaming technique: cream butter, sugar jello. add eggs, then zest OJ and orange oil. whisk together dry ingredients, add in alternating with milk
I love orange cakes!! Thanks for the recipe. I am going to try this one maybe for xmas!!
