ASeems like all our friends in the USA have a huge benefit over us in the UK. Honestly guys, I'd love to pay what you pay for your tins etc. In the UK you have to buy most items online, they're overpriced and then you pay postage costs too. :-(
I was wondering if anybody in UK can point me in the right direction of where to buy cake decorating items at reasonable prices in UK or Manchester if anyone is a fellow Mancunian.
I really wanted to order Bronwen Webber's Topsy Turvy stand from USA its $99for the stand and $60 shipping...so u gys in US...I'm jealous lol :)
AHi,
I always look on EBay UK for bargains like cutters, plungers, sugarflair colors etc, however I've come to love Windsor Cake Craft in Warrington and find it really reasonable as long as getting a few things you can order online but then you've got delivery fees but it's a huge place and the staff there are solo friendly! I get my large Mary from tesco's cos it always seems to last a lot longer, hope this helps :D

hey...aww you're very welcome and....oops my bad i meant to say marg as in the large margarine tub! x
hi try TK Max they have a good selection of cake tins and some decorating tools and cutters.
Also home bargins have some brilliant deals on wilton stuff at the moment, called in yesterday and could not believe how cheap they were, the wilton ribbon cutter was only £1.99.
For online sales try cake-stuff.com they have a good selection of tools and edibles its the cheapest place I have found to by fondant and postage is free if you spend £75.
AOh. ..I've never been to to max I always find it to look like a big jumbo sale type shop lol have to always route through things but I will Defford check them out...to be honest I didn't know they did baking stuff too so thanks!
I tend to use Sugarshack for a lot of my stuff - I've found the cost is pretty low (maybe not the cheapest) BUT you get free standard delivery over £15 which makes up for it. I'd love to buy in mass-bulk but sadly haven't got the space to store everything so this works well. There's a new-ish place too called The Great Cake Warehouse. They seem to be good value for cupcake boxes.
There is a fantastic cake shop in Manchester called Sparkling Sugar (our towards Prestwich). I can't remember what the prices were like as its been a while since I lived there but they had a big selection.
HTH xx
I have to admit that i use ebay for a lot of my stuff. But we have a great shop in barnsley South yorkshire.
http://www.djscakes.co.uk/ debbie is happy to order in advance of a visit.
also http://www.thecakedecoratingcompany.co.uk/ the are in nottingham
for cake tins denelm mill is great but also cookshop.
other that these the show in march at event city would be the place i go.
AThanks so much guys. Yes I go to the shop in Prestwich but I only buy icing from there, or if I get a last min order ill get the other stuff. It's amazing how much stuff they have in there. But I do gin that their prices are quite high.
Thanks for all the sites too I will have a nosey xx
Hi chocaholikk,
yeah I went in there once cos used to live round the corner from there and yeah it's so expensive and only got a baby pink sugarflair and a board and was nearly a tenner?! I've used Sugarshack recently for cake boards and boxes (in bulk it's sooo much cheaper) and if you spend over £15 then it's free delivery but it came within about 4 days and says 7 maximum but they're really good quality from what I can see :D

sorry snowflake bunny only just seen your comment lol yeah it's really hard to store stuff it it's already piling up!! D'oh!! x
AI'm short of space too but I'm obese with buying cake goodies lol. Has anyone tried the topsy turvy pans??

No, I haven't. I'm not really into the topsy turvey thing personally and I figured that if a customer really wanted one, I'd be better off carving a round cake and wasting a bit than I would buying another set of tins. They are really expensive unless you use them a lot, and, lets face it, I already have boxes of cake stuff piling up the stairs!!!!
Hoping to build an extension soon... then I can buy in bulk! I can picture my fiance's eyes rolling already...

I agree with cake carving instead of buying tins. it is sods law that you wont have the one you need sounds as if you need a storage unit before an extension though lol
My OH makes stained glass and model ships what his his stash and my cake craft and tatting stash we have to sleep in shifts in the broom cupboard! I have suggest that he sleeps in the car instead - can't imagine why he objected - it just seemed logical to me
