Christmas Ornaments In Gift Boxes

These are cupcakes with the mini ball halves on top - covered in buttercream and fondant. Decorated with fondant and royal icing. I gave these to the people at work who had placed orders during the last year. Some thought they were real ornaments and picked them up - ended up with a handful of icing!!! Fun to make but even more fun to see people's reactions. Bought the decorated gift boxes at a dollar store and they were perfect!

Even in person people thought they were real! Shame you can't see the boxes in the photo. They were really pretty (from the dollar store). I went back and bought a lot more because there are already orders for next year!

These are levelled off cupcakes with an inverted 1/2 ball on top. Only the 1/2 ball was covered in buttercream and fondant. Fondant and royal accents. Top hook is gumpaste.

These are absolutely incredible! Can I ask how you did your hooks from gumpaste? They all look exactly the same and so real. Spectacular job!!!!! :D

Thanks everyone! For the hooks I used an extruder to get a long skinny rounded rope and cut to about 2 1/2" and then just shaped them. No template but that would be a good idea. I was just to lazy to make one! :wink:
