My mother in laws birthday is sunday and I want to make her a cake I know she will love. She has allways loved orange and chocolate together so I was planning to do the dreamsicle cake and fill it with ganache then use a cream cheese BC to ice it and maybe do a ganache drizzle around the top. As for the decorations she is an avid kniter and I have allways planned to do a kniting cake for her but time gets away from me and I never have time. I thought about doing some balls of yarn on top of the cake with needles and such then doing a stiched look for the border and maybe any writing. I do not have the sport ball pan or access to it at this short of notice so I was trying to think of other possabilities for the balls. Also, I need some guidance on the ganache. I know it has to be at one point for the drizzle and another (more set up) point for filling the cake. Any tips for me? I really want this to be special as her kids really never do anything nice for her (no my husband is not her son. He is her step son).
