What a great place to have discovered. (I just joined). I am also new to cake decorating and I can't figure out how to deliver a cake I am making. I will be making a 3 tier wedding cake, all tiers separated with push in pillars. I understand I will need to transport the cake separated. Normally I use a non slip mat in my car and it works fine. But this will be my very first time I am using pillars and separator plates. I have delivered cakes already placed on the cake base, but the separator plates would not be touching the rubber mat since they have their little "feet" to connect with the pillars. How in the world do I transport this cake? Do I have to assemble everything on site? What do I put my cake on to deliver? I am very confused and will be happy for any help.
Welcome first of all. I am trying to figure out how to fly with a doll cake and a 4 year old. I REALLY want to do this cake and I WILL figure it out. hehehe

Welcome. I have transported cakes on the plates (with the feet) and have had no problem. I do use the skid mats and the cakes have not moved or shifted. Just drive careful. Also another option is if you place cake on wrapped cardboard and then when you get to the venue, slap a little buttercream on the plate and then put the cake on top? Anxious to see what everyone else says.

I just delivered a cake on this same plate and it was fine. The feet seemed to stick just fine. Just drive cautiously 
Like everyone has said.. transport un-stacked. The plates should do fine. Just be careful with the push-in pillars. My experience with them has been 50/50. I find that they can be a little unstable because the bottom is tapered. Once I got my cake assembled, it was ok, but it might be nice to have someone assist you with the stacking. Just to keep everything straight and upright.
