Sugar paste is gum paste which can be used to make all kinds of embellishments and decorations ie flowers, bows, ribbons, leaves etc.

I'm not sure what exactly you mean though when you you cover your fondant in it. Could you clarify that please?

I read on a recently submitted photo for a football mask that the mask was made of fondant covered in sugar paste. Thanks.

Sugarpaste is the same as fondant. The term is used more in Britain, Australia, etc. Flower paste is synonymous with gum paste. It's essentially sugarpaste/fondant with gums added to increase stretch and to make it dry faster.

I have no idea what the maker of the football mask did, or perhaps meant to say.

If I were making a football helmet mask, I'd make it out of either all gum paste (sugarpaste/fondant with Tylose, gum tex, gum tragacanth, or cmc added) or 50/50 (half gum paste, half fondant). You could also make it out of pastillage, but I don't usually have that on hand and don't make it unless I need huge amounts of a strong, sturdy material for structural support.

Oftentimes, gumpaste/sugarpaste and fondant are combined to make a mixture that combines the best of both mediums - moldable, doesn't dry too quickly/slowly.

I just recently got some sugarpaste (fondant) from creativecutters.com. It is made in Canada and it is the best tasting fondant I have ever tasted. It puts Wilton and Satin Ice to shame!

Yes, Mill Lane fondant tastes great, but it's an entirely different experience when working with it, too. I've used it in classes with Geraldine Randlesome and I bought some of the chocolate to use at home. It's the only fondant that has driven me nuts when rolling it out! I always roll on a smear of crisco on vinyl, but with Mill Lane, I had to knead in PS and then roll on a combo of PS & CS. It just stuck & stuck & stuck. I had to roll the chocolate on cocoa powder.
