For those of you who have done cakes in the shape of hamburgers, what color/colors did you use to get the brown/tan for the bun?
Thanks!
Seester
I HAVEN'T DONE ANY PERSONALLY BUT I THOUGHT THAT I WOULD BUMP THIS UP. I THINK THAT YOU COULD START WITH BROWN AND KEEP ADDING UNTIL YOU GET YOUR COLOR. DON'T GO OVERBOARD HOWEVER. SORRY I COULDN'T GIVE YOU THE RIGHT ANSWER! CATHY
I have done a hamburger before, I used the Dora color set, the color of her skin was perfect. I coudnt find the color i wanted anywere else. They sell set of color for charactor pans at micheals. hope this helps
I did a bun cake, and just added some of the chocolate icing for the hamburg part itself to the white icing....it turned out really nice.
I did this for my son and we used peanutbutter frosting! the patty was a brownie. It was ssoooo good oh by the way a casarol pan was the purfect shape for the bun top.
For my pizza cookie cake...on the crust...I also used the dora skin tone. It worked well for me.

My brother is turning nine. And he saw a hamburger cake in a magazine while my mom was flipping through it. Since we are having a bbq birthday party i thought...Why not!!!!!! It looks pretty easy, white cake for the bun, chocolate for the burger. But i'm still debating on whether to use peanut butter frosting for the bun, or very light chocolate icing. I have seen the dora one at michael's, but will not be able to get into Winnipeg before then as we live in Carberry, and the Brandon location is not built yet......For the lettuce ect.....did you just put food coloring in white icing???!!!! Also did you put chocolate icing on th eburger part, or do you think that will be too sugary???
I just used a brown and golden orange color and added an itsy bitsy amount at a time. I used very very little.
I've done the hamburger cake a few times. You could either use a brown or tan food coloring paste to tint your buttercream, or you could add some peanut butter to your buttercream or use caramel frosting.
