Anyone have any ideas on how to even start making this cake. I believe it's from the about the cake website. I would like to make it, but i'm pretty sure it's outta my league.

Hi there!

O.K. Here are a couple of thoughts that I have. The front wheel, I would use a chocolate covered donut. Then cover in fondant if you wish. the forks would be dowels painted with the silver highlighter paint(highlighter powder and clear alcohol.) As for the main body. I would use a loaf pan or square, cut in half and stack then sculpt the shape as you want. Put on a really good coat of crumbcoat and decorate in BC. I would put fondant on on the tank and whereever the silver is, so that you can paint it. If you are up to it,it would look great completely in fondant.

Hope this helps and message me if I can help.

you're a genius birdlady! I would never have thought of loaf pans. in my mind i pictured myself struggling to stack sheetcakes on their sides!!! and i wanted to add that just today i was admiring your wisteria cake.

HI!

You can still use sheetcakes, just not on thier sides. you stack them horizontally on each other until you reach your desired height and then start sculpting. However, the loaf pan would be much easier and you should use poundcake. makes sculpting much easier.

If you do it, I would love to see the picture.

Bestest,
