By the way. I don't know bizemomma, I just happened to run across her cake in the new uploads.
Oh my word! Roaches give me the willies and that cake did as well!
She did a fantastic job!
Ok...that cake gave me the chills.
It's AWESOME....but gross. LOL. Great job!
I'd love to hear the instructions on that. Just curious if she's willing to share.
I'm not sure what to say...I've never gotten this much attention for a cake so this is kinda cool. Thanks for all your great comments.
I baked 3 oval cakes, stacked 2 of them cut the 3rd in half and shaped to make the head. Crumb coated and then covered in MMF. I made the top "shell" a few days before the cake was due, hoping that it would harden but due to Fl weather it never hardened as much as I wanted. I painted to shell with wilton gels and vodka to get the desired colors, put the green vanilla mousse on top of the cake and then gently placed the "shell" on top of that. The antenna and legs are MMF over wire that I shaped the way I wanted. To get the shiney look I melted shorting and painted onthe legs and antenna. I hope this is helpful. If you have have other questions, please ask away.
Thanks so much bizemomma. It really is an awesome cake! Did you get the idea from somewhere else or come up with it on your own?
On this cake I actually came up with the idea myself. There arn't alot of roach cakes to get ideas from. The worst part of the whole thing was having to look up pictures to print off of the actual roach so I could get the cake as close to real as possible. I felt creepy crawly all day after that LOL. The funny part is that we have our house on the market and after I printed the roach pics up I had them on the kitchen counter and almost forgot to put them away before someone came to look at our house. Can you imagine explaining that one..ohmy..
LOL
I'm glad to hear that you aren't "Okay" with roaches.
I can see potential home buyers running away in fear thinking "You mean the roaches here are so big that they take pictures of them?"

That is just way too funny! I know what you mean about feeling "creepy crawly"; I get that way whenever I watch a bug show on TV or something like that.
Your cake is really awesome bizemomma. Thanks for sharing how you made it. I had been wondering how you got it shiny; I think that's what really made it look real......and give me the willies! And I love the way you filled it with green "insides".....totally gross.....but way cool!
