I made these for my daughter’s kindy class who have had an “insect” theme all term and have been reading “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” along with other Eric Carle books. The cakes are vanilla with chocolate ganache and fondant ‘insects’. They are not as neat as I would have liked but I don’t think the kids will care – as long as they can eat the sugar!!
Eric Carle baby shower cookies By ckkerber
I made these for my sister-in-law’s baby shower yesterday. It was a storybook themed shower so I chose Eric Carle as the inspiration for the cookies and did three kinds, Brown Bear, Brown Bear , the Very Hungry Caterpillar, and The Grouchy Ladybug. All characters are chocolate transfers and I used rolled buttercream to ice the cookie.

Inspired by the book by Eric Carle. There are also little caterpillars eating through various food items around the cake. The coloured dots are skittles candy, the rest is covered in fondant, then hand painted.
