Templates For A Martha Stewart Cake
These are templates a CCmember asked me to create for a Martha Stewart cake she was making. Thought some one else might find it useful. (slide 17 in the link below, is a picture of the cake she was recreating) http://www.marthastewartweddings.com/photogallery/elizabeth-and-barton?czone=inspiration%2Fcolor-center%2Fcakes-color#slide_17
Mad Science Cake
This was a Mad science cake for a pair of eight year old twins. I had flashing red leds below the pot with the green dripping stuff and red green blue flashing leds in the "electric circuit" with the 'batteries'.

I drew this template at the request of CC user milknhoney. Thought it might be of use to someone else too.
Delia's Wedding Cake... Metal Separator
Made this for my cousin. Designed the stand and got it fabricated. Edited the background out, but lost some detail in the process. All flowers are fondant with tylose added. The notes, are three bars from the Wedding March. Of course, without the staff, it doesn't make much sense, but piping the five parallel lines on the side of a curved surface was impossible. I tried though, and finally gave up, and just piped the notes instead.
This is a cake I did for a five-year old. Moby Dick is his current favourite story. After an extensive gallery search, on CC, and the net for ideas with zero success, this is what I came up with.
I had made this cake three years ago, and just yesterday received a copy of the photograph! I kept asking until I got it! What I have posted earlier in My photos was a really terrible picture taken in harsh light. This is so much better.
Alisha's Engagement Cake
Hi, This is one I did for a friend's daughter. When I asked for details, she said, "I like chocolate, pink, ribbons and roses. This is what I came up with. Thanks for looking, Karen
Anniversary Cake With Flowers
This was made for my cousin and her husband, celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary, (informal, at home with family) This was really rushed, as it was a rich fruit cake, covered with marzipan, and then with fondant. I started cleaning and cutting fruit on thursday and delivered on Sunday. All from scratch. The flowers took time to create, as the carnations, roses and orchids needed time between layers. Both of them are really fond of flowers , and I tried to incorporate that into the cake. Thanks for looking, Karen
First of all, a BIG Thank you to Kitagrl for her wonderful idea. My daughter, Meghna just turned 13 and had a "cooking party" for a few of her friends. They iced cookies, baked cupcakes, made pizza from scratch, and made milkshakes. She wanted to have a cake that tied in with the theme, and found Kitagrl's fantastic cake on CC. All fondant, figures and accesories with tylose added.
Quilling Cake For My Daughter
The inspiration for this is of course Colette Peter's fabulous cake. Thanks to 2sdae for the idea of covering and entire cake in coloured sugar. That added an extra sparkle to the cake.
Sean's Soccer Cake
This was made for my nephew Sean. He plays goalie for his school team, and the marzipan figure is wearing the school colours. Itâs all buttercream, except for the figure and the black patches on the soccer ball. Thanks for looking, Karen Sorry for the poor picture quality ... taken on a phone
Yet Another Basket Of Flowers
Made this for my father's brother. He is also a Jesuit, religious brother. I didn't realise it was his 75th, so I just thought I'd stick with roses, his favourite flower. The roses are made from homemade almond marzipan. I was very happy with the way they held their shape. I used tooth-picks this time instead of floral wire to hold them in place, as I knew they were going to be heavy. I decided to make it bright and cheerful as the average age of the priests at the tea-party was around seventy.
This turned out to be a project that I really enjoyed doing and I am really proud of the outcome. My cousin, just celebrated 25 years as a religious sister, and this icon represents the charism of her Order Thanks for looking.
Tiffany Lamp-Shade With Grapes And Vines
A Big Thank You to Karateka. The original idea of using a real lamp-stand and setting the cake on it is hers. The fondant is lustre-dusted with dry gold and then the grapes and vines are hand-painted on.Then again I used two shades of lustre dust for the leaves, and amethyst lustre dust for the grapes. The "lead" is black fondant, thinned and piped. The finial is fondant and painted with piping gel and colour, for shine and to match the wooden lamp-stand.
Chocolate Cake With Gumpaste Flowers
We moved into our new apartment in May of this year, and yesterday, we were invited to a party to celebrate "100% occupancy" It was a good chance to meet all our new neighbours and their families. It is a nine story apartment and the party was on the terrace. It was beautiful, the night before full-moon. As for the cake, it was a regular Devil's food cake, cooked fudge icing... I need to experiment more! The flowers are all gumpaste with a little tylose added.
This is a cake decorated by my 12 year old. She planned the design and the colour scheme, after browsing on Cc for a couple of days. We had a togh time with the butter cream and the fondant as we are in the midst of the monsoons here... The important thing is, she was very very happy that she could do her own cake. My part? I baked and covered with buttercream, and then sat back and watched. Thanks for looking. Karen
These are a few very simple henna patterns. Just very basic. Henna itself is much more intricate, but that becomes too tedious to ice. Don't use too many patterns at once, it looks too busy. Select one or two and repeat to create your design. When henna paste dries on the hand it is a deep dark brown. When it is washed off, the skin gets dyed to a deep orange red, sometimes almost black. Arabic henna patterns are darker and more bold than these. These are typical of Indian Henna.
