Hunger Games Inspiration Challenge - "real"

When I saw the centre photo on the Inspiration Board, I knew I had to try to capture the fleeting message of hope that threads through the Hunger Games Trilogy. Revolution can not happen without hope, symbolized for the districts in Katniss and her mockingjay pin. But as Katniss struggled to be that symbol, she herself needed hope to keep on, and found hope symbolized in the dandelion and Peeta's pearl - signs of Peeta's love. The yellows, reds and blacks were drawn from the top left and bottom left pictures of the inspiration board. Vanilla mini-cake with chocolate buttercream icing, covered with vanilla marshmallow fondant. Airbrushing with gumpaste details.
