Gray, Vinatge Lace, And Wafer Roses Wedding Cake
This cake features lace applique and a bouquet of Confectioner’s wafer roses. 34 roses in all sprinkled with some brunia and Dusty Miller to match the brides flowers. The bride chose white vanilla cake with Cookies ‘n’ Creme butter cream (super cool bride!) and there is a dark chocolate ganache coat under the fondant layer.
Wafer Ranunculus And Sempervivum
The ranunculus are made from confectioners’ wafer and the sempervivum is sugar paste.

Brushed Ganache, Floral Separator And A Floating Tier
A two tier wedding cake with a floral separator. White vanilla cake flecked with fresh raspberries, lemon curd filling, and a lemon white chocolate ganache finish with frosted purple infinity bands. The sugar flowers took over 55 hours to complete and included roses, rose buds, phalaenopsis orchids, hydrangea, freesia, hypericum berries, blossoms, and hydrangea leaves.
Glitz And Glam Wedding Fashion With Sugar Diamonds And Silver Leaf
This cake was created for the Summer 2013 Quarterly Award Contest on CakesDecor.com. It based on a wedding fashion inspiration board I have created on Pinterest. To view the board, click here: pinterest.com/karascakes/fashion-inspiration-wedding-style/ The board was generated based on what I would want my wedding dress to look like if I had an endless budget :) Diamond and pearl encrusted, covered in silver, big, rich, deep swaggy ruffles… The cake stand is hand created and is a permanent structure attached to the board. The base board is hand crafted faux distressed/bleached wood, made with fondant and accented with petal dusts. The cake has Isomalt sugar diamonds, edible silver leaf, silver and pearl dragees. The ruffles were created with confectioner’s wafer so they would be light, ethereal and translucent like one of the dresses on my Pinterest board.

3D sculpted giraffe cake for a 1st birthday. This cake stood 28 inches tall. The head andd body are orange creamsicle cake and buttercream, covered and decorated with my own modeling chocolate.
3D Gravity Defying Monkey Birthday Cake
3D Sculpted Monkey doing a handstand. Coated in ganache then covered and decorated in modeling chocolate. His head and body are cake, as are the cupcakes. Each cupcake is sitting in a sugar paste banana leaf. This cake stood 27 inches tall.

Spring, Stones, And Chocolate Ganache
This double barrel cake was a 6 inch round standing 8.5 inches high. It's covered in dark chocolate ganache and imprinted modeling chocolate "stones" as well as a sugar flower spray. The cake inside was my classic white vanilla with Cookies 'n' Creme buttercream (easily my most requested flavor). The outside is ganached--only. Sugar flowers include: peony, stephanotis, hydrangea buds, lisianthus bud, hydrangea leaves and loop leaves. The modeling chocolate for the stones was scratch made and fantastic to work with. The imprinting came from various stamps that reflected natural items that might find themselves fossilized someday :) The color was added to the modeling chocolate, air brushed, dusted and painted. They were very high maintenance!

Greg Heffley, The Wimpy Kid. He stands 31 inches tall. His topsy-turvey cake is cake, his head is cake, and his backpack is cake. He is covered in modeling chocolate and fondant and is standing on one leg. The cake is vanilla buttermilk with orange creamsicle buttercream. In the following pics you can see he is leaning back as if he is falling.
Tiffany Heart Tag Cupcakes
The bride and groom's initials are 'engraved' on this Tiffany style heart tag along with a piped micro heart. Colors to match the bridal color scheme, and mini pearl blossoms. These were parting gifts for the guests.

Illuminated Stainded Glass Cake With Chinese Peony
This cake was illuminated from within, caverns carved from the bottom of the cake to provide light to the stained glass sugar windows. There are 5 individually designed sugar windows around the cake. The large sugar flower is a Chinese Peony with some fine gilding around the edges. Covered in emerald fondant to pay tribute to the Pantone color of the year. Layers of white vanilla, dark chocolate and red velvet cake with Madagascar bourbon SMBC.

Replica Birthday Cake - To Scale
The birthday girl is a respiratory therapist in a sleep lab. The medical 'paste' they use is an inside joke between fellow therapists. So we made her a mini cake of a tub of neurodiagnostic electrode paste. She loved it! This cake is an exact replica right to size of the original. Dark chocolate cake with peanut butter Swiss style meringue buttercream, ganache coating under fondant.
Disney Themed Cupcake Toppers
Disney themed cupcake toppers… but unless you’ve visited the park you may not recognize the images… Spaceship Earth (aka Epcot golf ball), Madame Leota (mystic and floating head), The Tree of Life, Koro (tiki God). The Tree of Life stood up right atop the cupcakes. All atop vanilla cupcakes, Cookies ‘n’ Creme butter cream and crushed Oreo’s.
Banana Phone Cake
A sculpted banana phone cake requested for a 33rd birthday. The cake is carrot pineapple with cream cheese Swiss style meringue butter cream. The banana is not a real banana (the photographer thought it was!) it?s sugar. But the compliment was appreciated :) Additionally, a side-by-side of the inspiration and the actual cake.

All the classic icons from Super Mario. Everything is edible; the 4 tunnels are cakes and all decor is sugar. Inside: dark chocolate gone wild! the birthday boy wanted 'funfetti' style. With vanilla Swiss meringue style butter cream and dark chocolate ganache. This cake was coated using a more Australian style 9rather than American)-- ganache coating immediately beneath the fondant. I'm sold on this style for precision in shaping and ease of fondant application. Thanks to all the Aussie contributors here for tutorials and methods!
