Jeep Cake
My first real 3D cake... an attempt to replicate a friend's jeep. I had a friend consult with me to find the proper dimensions of the jeep and scale those done. So, this cake is actually properly scaled. Built up on on a support so it looked like a real jeep on tires. It was my first time building a cake support, so it was an interesting process. If I ever attempt again, I will definitely need a few power tools!

Game Of Thrones Cake
Iron Throne cake from the Game of Thrones, in celebration of the Season 3 Premier tonight! The cake is white chocolate, with white chocolate buttercream and white chocolate ganache. It's covered with fondant and then all the swords are made out of gumpaste and painted with silver luster dust. The decor alone took 12 hours.

Chocolate Lace Cake
I'm not sure what this technique is called, but I've been calling it chocolate lace. I saw it once and recreated it. Pretty easy, you just have to time it just right. But, it's the chocolate drizzle swirls, wrapped around each tier. You just drizzle and allow to semi-set. Corresponding colored ribbon on each tier. Lavender colored rose bud on top with rose petals all down and around. It turned out really lovely.

Chocolate Ruffle Cake
Two tier chocolate ruffle anniversary cake. The cake was chocolate almond with almond buttercream. The cake was covered in a modeling chocolate and homemade marshmallow fondant combination, which gave it a really nice taste and great texture to work with. The cake was "ruffled" from top to bottom with strips of covering and put on one by one starting at the top and working down. I used corn syrup as my glue... it's thicker and makes it stick faster. The bottoms of each tier were covered in brown satin ribbon. The flowers were hand made from gumpaste. I don't necessarily love how those look, but the customer wanted bigger ones instead of the longer slender ones. All in all, it turned out really beautiful.

Castle Cake
Castle cake insides were vanilla bean cake with vanilla bean buttercream. The outside walls and towers are fruity pebble rice crispy treats (request of the customer) and those were covered in frosting and fondant. The door is made out of modeling chocolate. The gate is made out of black gumpaste and painted with metallic paint to give it a shiny iron look. The gate accidentally got stuck on there crooked, but it kept falling otherwise. The gargoyal is made out of modeling chocolate. The torches are made out of gumpaste and the fire is made out of pulled sugar. The stained glass windows are made out of melted sugar that were poured into molds and food colors were painted on the back to give it that look of being stained glass. It took a lot of trial and error, but finally have a decent method for those. This cake was lots of fun. The only thing I forgot were the window!
