Red Velvet Cake decorated all in Swiss Meringue Buttercream. The compass rose is free-hand pipped on top.
I was asked to make a cake for an owner of two Cairn Terriers. She wanted one of the terriers (the female) to be wearing a Burberry coat. I decided to make the male a little naughty so he's pulling the ruffles off the side of the cake. TFL.

For my husband's office halloween party. Cake was primarily inspired by one by Jacques Pastries and the house shape was from a cake by jsmith here on cc. Yellow butter cake covered in buttercream with fondant accents. House is cake covered in fondant.
Fall In Canada
My husband works for the Canadian government and wanted a small cake for a new office opening. Since it was fall, I covered a buttercream cake with chocolate maple leaves dusted with gold, copper and silver lustre dust. The government logo is done with royal icing.
I wanted to try the upside-down icing technique to see if I could a more level and smooth surface on my buttercream. Although I probably won't use it very often, I was surprised how well it worked.
For my husband's birthday, he plays the piano. Vanilla Bean Cake with Caramel and SMBC filling, covered in MMF with hand piped Royal Icing and gumpaste Grand Piano. Basic design is from Lindy Smith's book 'Cakes to Inspire and Desire' with a few of my own changes.
