Marbled Lavender Cupcake
The music director of "She Loves Me" at a local university asked me to make cupcakes for the cast and crew for the first read-through. The play takes place in a parfumerie in Budapest in the 1930's. His only request was that the cupcakes be made with lavender and/or rose water. This is a lavender cupcake with a honey buttercream. You can see the process I went through to make this at thekitchendunce.blogspot.com.

Lego Cake
I made this for my son's 12th birthday. The yellow block is lemon filled and covered with lemon buttercream icing, the red block is red velvet filled and covered in vanilla cream cheese icing, and the blue block is vanilla (tinted blue) filled and covered in vanilla buttercream icing. Quote from Jared: "This is the coolest cake I've ever had!"

Lab Coat
Cake and cupcakes for a bioengineer who just earned his PhD. He works with mice, but his mom thought that rodents would be gross. I couldn't help myself though, and put one little cute mouse hiding in the pocket. The cake is has buttercream icing with fondant decorations. The science decorations on the cupcakes are RI. TFL

Deathly Hallows Cake
Harry Potter has been a part of our lives for many years now (my boys are now in 7th and 9th grade), so I took my boys to see the new movie on opening day. I had some extra batter and icing from some cupcakes that I had done, so I made this little cake when we got home. The Deathly Hallows symbol took some math to get right, but lucky for me, in my day job I'm a geometry teacher. It's nothing special, but the boys loved that I made a cake just for them.

Brushed Embroidery
I made this cake just to try some new things. This was my first time making a WASC cake and my first time trying brushed embroidery. I used the original WASC recipe with a vanilla cake mix. Everything is vanilla buttercream. This is actually the smoothest my buttercream has ever looked. Overall, I'm happy with the way this turned out. Now my family gets to eat it.

Scooby Doo / Flower Power
I made this cake for my friend's daughter's 4th birthday. The top is chocolate filled with chocolate fudge buttercream. The bottom is vanilla tie-dye filled with vanilla buttercream. It's all covered in tie-dyed MMF. The Scooby on top is a candle. The second picture is the test cake I did for the tie-dye (I didn't get any pictures of the inside of the "real" cake). The cake was a big hit at the party. I tried to use all Scooby colors ... grean, teal, orange, and yellow ... for both inside and outside the cake.
