Uv Rave Cake
This was a birthday cake for my bestie! My first attempt at any sort of UV (black light reactive) edibles. The inspiration came from a cake i saw here along with talk of UV piping gel. I made a batch of UV royal icing and fondant from scratch with tonic water to make it reactive. It didnt turn out quite as bright as i had hoped but it was still a success!

Purple Topsy Turvy
This cake was a gift for a friends birthday so i wanted to try something ive never done (two things ive never done really, topsy turvy and a 3 tier cake). By the time i stacked the tiers it became obvious that i didnt use the right/enough supports and it was slowly but surely crushing itself from the weight. by the time i got the cake fully decorated it was ready to fall over, this is where i grabbed the first picture. Her party wasnt until night and i knew there was no way it was going to stay up as shortly after the picture the bottom tier split in a few places so i pulled the top two tiers off hoping they would at least survive the night. The drive nearly killed them and after 5 minutes of sitting on the table at her house the top tier fell off the bottom lol (at least its funny now!). Despite how unbelievably mortified i was my friend assured me she she still loved the cake and was so thrilled i made it for her, which helped me feel better about the ordeal. She also informed me all her guests told her they couldnt eat just one piece and that everyone had several because it was so delicious. So in the end i definitely learned my lesson and i was happy i got to have that learning experience with such a great, understanding friend! The cake was also a beautiful dark purple btw, i tried several cameras and they all turned it blue in the pictures!

3D Hello Kitty Cake
My first attempt at a 3D cake. I had a lot of trouble with the fondant as Ive never had to put it over odd shapes before! But i think she was pretty nice for a first trial run! I used the Wilton cuddly bear pan and cut off her legs to reposition them in front of her so she wasn't doing the splits so much :P Her wiskers are toothpicks but everything else is fondant. It was also my first time at the 3D bow, which i think came out nice :)
