Train Cake
Train cake made for a train mad little boy's 3rd birthday. The train and green carriage are made from vanilla cake with raspberry and vanilla buttercream filling and the other 2 carriages are chocolate cake. The board and cake are covered in fondant, rocks and train tracks are also fondant. The sweets are skittles, 'millions' and jelly beans. Sorry about the poor quality of the photos, I had to put the cake together properly at the venue and the birthday boy arrived a little early so the cake had to be rushed away so I couldn't get a proper picture!

Zingy Lemon Cupcake With Passion Fruit Topping
Possibly my new favourite cake! The lemon cake is based on a lemon drizzle without the drizzle part. It's a really flavourful and moist recipe that it didn't need that extra lemon. I topped the cakes with a cream cheese frosting, some with lemon cream cheese and others with passion fruit cream cheese.

Rapunzel / Tangle Cake
Well this is the biggest cake I have done and my first time using RKT. The base is a 10" round vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream and covered in fondant. The tower and tree trunks are made from RKT covered in fondant. The tops of the trees and the tower roof are made from vanilla cupcakes covered in fondant. 'Grass' is piped royal icing and the hair is fondant mixed with flower paste to make it a little firmer as my first lot of hair snapped off due to the weight.

Yoshi 10Th Birthday Cake
Made for a Yoshi super-fan, my friends son, for his 10th birthday. He was a pain from start to finish. My nromal recipe that takes 25 minutes to cook, took 45 for no apparent reason. I had different fondant to normal that just didn't take the green colouring too well and everything I tried getting it on the cake it tore, or it stretched as soon as it got on the cake. In the end I managed to get it on and cut parts off that would be covered by other fondant so it didn't look too bad. I had a few tantrums over his shoes, and his eyes plus his hand but I did the best I could with him and refrained from throwing him at the wall. My friend was super pleased with the cake and is going to take lots of pictures of her sons face when he sees the cake for the first time as she knows he's going to be so happy. I hope he loves it!

Lilac & Lemon Mother's Day Cake
A special cake made for my mum this Mother's Day. The cake is vanilla with buttercream and raspberry filling. I roughly covered the cake in a layer of fondant before adding the pleated sides. I covered the tops with fondant flowers with sugar pearls for the centres. I made the 'Mum' from fondant and coated the cake with pearl lustre spray. I'm quite proud of the cake as it's my first non novelty type cake and a first attempt at pleating.

Tottenham Hotspurs Football Shirt
Made for a colleague of my husbands for her husband Mark's 40th birthday. After icing and setting aside to prepare the blue details my 3 year old decided that she was going to rub grubby sticky fingers all over it as I turned round to wash my hands! It ended up covered in pink icing she'd been playing with and a nice stamp of a lid pressed into it! I ended up having to re-cover the cake with new icing the other half had to run to the shop to get! Some details are in navy fondant and the team logo, 'M' and Happy Birthday are handpainted with navy rainbow dust. It's definitely not my finest work and not a cake I'm proud of, but the lady it was for was pleased with it and thinks her husband will love it. Fingers crossed he does.

Carlsberg Lager Can
Made for my dads 53rd birthday. He is a big beer fan so I decided this would be a good design for him. The cake is a coffee cake with a coffee buttercream and is covered in fondant. All details are hand painted and all is edible. The beer glass at the bottom were added as a request from my mum to stick candles in so she does't have to stick them in the cake! The little white smudgey bits are very annoying and I just couldn't get rid of them. It was my first time painting with rainbow dust and I didn't realise it would still be powdery when it was dry!

Christmassy Cupcakes
My very first attempt at cupcakes. They didn't turn out too badly, I need more practice with the piping but am quite pleased with the result. There are 2 different types of cupcake, dark & milk chocolate mudcake and white chocolate mudcake, both covered in a raspberry and white chocolate ganache buttercream and decorated with some sprinkles I had in for the kids to use at christmas!

Number 1 Birthday Cake
My 2nd ever cake made for my youngest daughter's 1st birthday. It's hard carved from 3 rectangular vanilla sponge cakes, alternating plain vanilla and coloured pink layers. Filled with Pink vanilla buttercream. Unfortunately the sugar paste I ordered to decorate with didn't arrive in time so I had to use ready to roll icing from the supermarket again and spend hours trying to dye it with liquid food colouring. The icing was a nightmare as it kept splitting! I then 'glued' edible flowers to the top and sides with royal icing.

Pingu & Igloo Birthday Cake
My first ever cake made for my eldest daughter's 2nd birthday. 5 layers of carved vanilla sponge filled and covered in grey vanilla buttercream and covered in blocks of ready to roll icing. Pingu is also just coloured ready to roll icing. I was really proud of this as my first ever cake but looks a bit rubbish now I look back at it.
