Fight Night
My husband asked me to make a cake for the neighborhood UFC fight night party. I did not know what I was doing but thanks to Cookie2124 for the great post of the TKO guy. I scarcely did hers justice though. I splattered red icing color all over the cake to look like blood. The inside of the cake was red and blue confetti with a layer of red icing in the middle. I used a toothpick and black icing coloring to draw the tattoo on his chest. We were hoping he would lose but he won.

Baseball Anniversary Cake
This was my first fondant cake. I gave it to my sister in law for her 7th wedding anniversary. Their first date was at a Houston Astros baseball game at Minute Maid park, which explains the orange on the top. I incorporated baseball bats, ballpark food, home plate with the number 7, and bases. The hot dogs were made out of fondant. I took tooth picks and lightly coated them with black icing coloring and pressed them onto the hotdogs in a slit formation to make the grill marks. I also threw in some shamrocks and pints of beer meant to look like Guinness for their Irish heritage. The head on the Guinness was made by using tip number 5 and punching lots of little cubes, then smashing them together on top and wetting them with gumpaste glue; it kind of looks like ice cubes - guess it could be a coke but I still thought it was cute. On the bottom, I placed a subtle shell imprinted border since they like to go to the beach in Galveston a lot. It was a lot of fun to make and I was very pleased with how it turned out.
