1St Birthday Cake
This was a mixture of whatever I had in my cupboard (nuts, fruit, chocolate) cake for bottom tier and a blackcurrany cake top tier. Covered in Ganache and iced with Covapaste and Regalice to colour. Made the topper myself - meant to represent my little man who was 1 yesterday with Iggle Piggle in one hand and a biscuit (and crumbs) in the other.

Dr Who Tardis Cake
Dr Who's Tardis riding the vortex! This is a chocolate sponge covered in ganache and sugarpaste. Hand painted swirl pattern to represent the vortex swirly pattern thing...yup, that'll do! Original Tardis was also sponge and was too heavy and actually split my base cake, but after fixing and not being happy with it I decided last minute (after forgetting the idea completely existed) I made the tardis out of RKT. Was for a little boy who turned 5. Wasn't quite as perfect as I'd have liked, but it worked - made him happy!!

Feeling Gutted
Was asked to to a Tardis cake for nephew. Not a problem I thought, but I'll make it more interesting than just a plain old Tardis! The topsy turvey part went well, I was very pleased with it, it was exactly as I had planned. The fondant went on and I painted it by hand using various layers of colours to create the "vortex" that Dr Who travels through. However, making the Tardis was a bit of bother, I couldn't get the cake to stand up straight, let alone ice it properly. I then had to figure out how to attach it to my vortex as it was bigger than I had originally planned. Well, I tried a few things, but when I put the Tardis down it fell on it's side, which mushed the fondant a little. Also to get it to stay I had to use rods, but it was a little on the large side - you can see it sticking out the top! The windows were wonky, it's not got enough detail, I just gave up! Anyway, long story short - hate this now. Was perfect pre-Tardis, but after finally getting the Tardis on the cake it's split the other parts of my cake as well (hence the start everywhere to try and hide the worst best as I can). Oh - this is my first topsy turvy cake, and first Tardis. I wish I had experimented with run outs or pastillage or something other than this!!!!
