Halloween Cake I Made Last Year I Loved The Large Skull Moulds Diamond Paste As There Was So Much Detail Dracula From A Book By Frances
Halloween cake I made last year. I loved the large skull moulds (Diamond Paste) as there was so much detail. Dracula from a book by Frances McNaugton. Gingerbread house mould used for the castle structure then fronted it with a gumpaste cut out. Needed a large cake to take all the detail so it ended up at the children's ward of the local hospital.

Birthday cake for a dear friend who is a Formula 1 fanatic. I used the Paul Bradford tutorial which was very useful and spent many hours refining scaled templates. Then my DH stepped in who also loves F1, took the knife from me and refined my carving. This turned out to be a real team effort as he ended up piecing the component parts together e.g wheels, rear wing, front wing, spraying it and even adding the white trim. We were very happy with the end result and so was our friend. Loads of left over cake though from the carving!!

Christmas House Scene
This was a "slightly" modified design I fell in love with at the NEC Cake International show in 2012. I don't know who the artist is so am unable to give justifiable credit. It was a 12" fruit cake recipe made in a 10" tin to get the extra depth then cut in half and stacked. The roof was made from a carved polystyrene dummy. This was so much fun to make and my friends were bowled over by it so I got double the pleasure.

Help (Or Hindrance) In The Kitchen
80th birthday cake for my mum who loves to bake. I wanted to include her grandaughter and great grandaughters in the scene. Two "helping" with the baking, the eldest wanted to be dancing but as the cake had to travel over 250 miles I made her doing the splits instead for stability. Latest addition to the family also included. Kitchen units and fridge freezer made from rice krispies. Marbled worktop looked very authentic. Coloured piping gel added to the kitchen sink when we reached the destination. Lots of detail in the design but I really enjoyed making this. Mum loved it.

Oh Happy Day! Shopping And Champagne.
Surprise birthday cake for my friend who loves shopping at TK Maxx. She wears clog-type shoes rather than delicate heels and loves handbags. She is very partial to a glass (or two) of champagne. Her dog, Toffee, usually attends celebrations with an ornate collar or bandana, but this time she was dressed in the TK Maxx till roll. All edible except the champagne bottle and glass. Edible images around the side of the cake. A fun cake to make.

Queen's Diamond Jubilee
Cake made for our village to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee. We have had a wonderful weekend of celebration here in the UK. Bottom tier had edible images of Queen Elizabeth throughout her life, as a baby, growing up, engagement, wedding, coronation to the present. Crown was pastllage (nightmare to work with). The cross which should have been on the top snapped just before it had to be presented so had to replace it with an "emerald".

Poppies For Poppy
Christening cake for a little girl. First time making poppies and I didn't find them easy. At one stage as I broke yet another petal I was wishing she was called Rose or Daisy! I added the teddy bear at the last minute to make it look more like a baby cake. Pleased with the end result but I still struggle attaching flower sprays to the sides of cakes. Customer loved it.
