For my son's second birthday
The Very Hungry Caterpillar Cake
Lorax cake for my son's birthday. Truffula tufts are made from cotton candy, but had to be added last minute, as they melt within an hour!
This was for a Baptism, but could have worked as a shower cake too.
For a cake walk!
For my Dad!
Made this for our neighbourhood block party.
For a baby shower!
I can't take credit for this design. I saw this cake many times online, and couldn't resist the simplicity of the design. It was fun and easy to make.
This turned out to be delicious! Lemon glaze on a lemon sour cream cake.
Star Trek Gingerbread Men :) Mostly red shirts.....for good reason.
Carrot cake, with cream cheese icing.
My first attempt at gumpaste flowers. Wow, those break EASILY!
This was for my sister's Hawaiian themed 5th anniversary party. Tasted pretty good too! (Vanilla cake with Strawberry jam filling).
This is my first attempt at quilting. I think it turned out alright. The bow loops kept breaking (even though I let the loops dry for 2 days....any suggestions?) I eventually had to place some of the loops sideways to make them stay up.
This was one of those cakes that tasted better than it looked. Wasn't entirely pleased with the presentation, but we enjoyed the cake!
Thanks go out to bytheslice for the design! I marbled the inside batter blue and green to give it a "water" feel.
My first attempt at MMF. Unfortunately it bulged at the sides. Have to fix that next time. Thanks to kwebbeltje for the design idea!
For my sister's birthday....this was a lemon cake, with lemon buttercream, royal icing flowers and some fondant details.
Spice cake with raisins sculpted and covered with fondant. All characters out of fondant too.
This is a traditional fruitcake, topped with marzipan, and covered with fondant. The flowers and leaves are all royal icing. There are real candles in there that we intend to light on Christmas (and see what happens....melty disaster??)
I made this as the final cake for my Wilton Course #3. It was a lot of fun to make! All edible (except the insect antennas...and I doubt anyone would want to eat the amount of fondant found in Pooh Bear).
