I made this cake for my father-in-law to take to his mom. Had some problems with smoothing the buttercream (it just wasnt cooperating!) but she loved it. Written on the sides is a Bible verse from Proverbs, "Her children will rise up and call her blessed."

This was one of those cakes where all the litle things went wrong! But the birthday boy loved it, so really that's all that mattered.
Cake done for the first service at our new church. Two 12x18 double-layers sheet cakes put side-by-side and iced in buttercream. Letters and crosses are fondant. Brown letters and crosses were done with cut-outs and blue letters were free-handed with an exacto knife.
