This was for a "sweet pea" themed baby shower. Buttercream on cakes with fondant/gumpaste accents. Cakes were strawberry and choc with oreo filling.
A Pirate's Life For Me!
This was done for a little boy for a pirate themed party. Buttercream icing on cakes with fondant decorations. Coins were bought at Wal-Mart. Thanks for the inspiration!!!
I had never covered a cake with fondant (except for one that I made for fun), had never used real ribbon, and also had never made drapes before, so this cake was a little nerve wracking. All of the calla lilies are made from MMF. I typically only do birthday cakes, but I'm trying to branch out a little and agreed to do this wedding cake. Cakes are white almond and strawberry are in 12, 9, and 6 inch tiers. Thanks for all the ideas and help!
Okay, so I've always been anti-fondant just because I don't like the chewy texture of it...BUT I did make my own MMF last night and tried it and I have to say it's not that bad. My husband actually likes it. I might actually use this in the future. Cake is choc fudge with strawberry filling. Flowers are gumpaste. Thanks for looking!
My first attempt at gumpaste flowers. I must say, it is way fun! Found lots of helpful tutorials on here and YouTube. Cake is french vanilla with raspberry filling. Ribbon is fondant.
Whoa! That's A Big Fish!
Such a fun cake to make! Gumpaste/fondant man, boat, fish, and signs. Fishing pole is a toothpick with floral wire attached. Cakes are butter pecan and yellow. Thanks for the ideas!
Slice Of Heaven!
This was for a surprise 50th. All buttercream except for the candle and the 50, which is fondant. French Vanilla cake with raspberry filling. This was a lot of fun!
Toy Story cake for a 4 year old. I had to put the figurines on the cake when I got to the party. The little boy got so excited that he made "Rex" start eating some of the cake icing. I almost died. *lol* Luckily I could fix it. Fondant "Sketch," rope, and planet. Planet is RK. Thanks for looking!
Speech And Drama
Cake I made for my speech and drama team's banquet. All buttercream on the cake, with fondant for the masks, stars, and banner. Thanks for looking!
Triple layer strawberry cake with buttercream icing. Chihuahua and purse are krispie treats. The birthday girl was also having a barbie theme, so I tried to incorporate that on the sides of the cake.
Hershey Lover's Dream!
I actually wanted to just eat this and bake another one. *lol* Triple Chocolate Fudge cake with chocolate buttercream dream icing and regular buttercream letters! YUM! YUM!
Princess And The Frog
Made for my niece's #5. I call it a Neapolitan cake, one fudge cake tier, one strawberry tier, and one white almond tier. Done in all buttercream with a piping gel waterfall. I found the figures at the Disney Store and was giving them to her as a present, but decided to just use them on the cake. Much easier than hand-making the figures! Thanks for looking!
My Favorite Things...
This was a cake done for my sister. I wanted to include some of her favorite things. She is pregnant and LOVES to take naps, so I put a little sleeping pregnant woman on the top. Everything is buttercream. I detest the taste of fondant and will only use it for accents. I was wondering how a pillow cake would turn out with buttercream, but it went better than I thought. I just covered the cake and let it set in the fridge for a little bit so it would be a little more stiff to work with.
Cake done for a baby shower. Cake is white almond with strawberry filling. Had matching cupcakes that, btw, I hate to do. I think this will be the last of the cupcakes I do. Just too time consuming. *lol* The cake was fun, however! = )
Some of the very last minute cupcakes I made for a Mardi Gras fundraisor for Haiti. Wished I had more time to have worked on them, but there were SO MANY (I didn't put them all on here obviously)!
Cake for my niece's third birthday. She was having a Barbie party, but I didn't want to use a Barbie. All buttercream on the cakes with fondant accents (ribbons, bows, and flowers.) 6in, 8in, and 12 in. with strawberry, white almond, and triple fudge. Thanks for the wonderful ideas!
Super Bowl 2010
Super Bowl cake with edible football made from rice krispies and covered in fondant. The rest is buttercream. Thanks for looking!!!
Zebra And Dots
This was a lot of fun! I had never had the chance to make a bow, but had always wanted to. The cake is all buttercream with all fondant decorations.
Used the Wilton kit. SUCH A BEAST TO ASSEMBLE! I really wish they had a better system than putting chocolate and dowel rods on the bottom of the turrets. Not really stable, I thought. All buttercream and royal icing flowers. Top of the turrets is fondant.
Pink Zebra And Stars
All buttercream icing on cake with fondant stars and topper. There were actually several different sizes of stars that didn't photo well. My first of the animal kingdom!
Cake for my mom in honor of her "pharmacy" she has at her house. Bottle says, "Take as needed for: Loss of hearing, hip, and back pain." All things she has. RX number is her b-day and qty is her age. Cake is 3 9's and one 12 all done in buttercream. Thanks sooo much for the creative idea!!
