This is my entry in Sugar Not On A Cake at the Capital Cake Show 2013. I won 1st Place Masters Division!
Fondant covered cake with embossed cut flowered connected with royal string-work to create lace. Topped with a gum paste plaque highlighted with tiny royal strings and dots. A gum paste dogwood swag attached for accent. I won 1st place Special Occasion Cakes Masters Division at the Austin cake show for this one!
This was my confections entry for the That Takes the Cake show in Austin, TX in February 2013. I won First Place in Masters Division.
Covered in both buttercream and fondant. Gumpaste flowers and medallion. I made the cupcake wrappers from cake board foil and rhinestones.
Giant fondant covered polish cake with fun gumpaste accents including eyeshadow, mask, lipsticks brushes, toe separator and even a few slices of cooling cucumber for tired eyes!

Front view Appoloosa (Spotted) Horse Cake front view. Butter cream cake with fondant accents and gum paste/fondant horse.
Mater made of RCT's covered in fondant. Vintage rusty paint job hand painted. 10"x4" cake covered in tire tread made of fondant and grill done in gum paste with shimmer red to mimic reflective light.
I chose elements of the brides dress in this cake design. The standing pleats on the 2nd tier mimic the top of the strapless gown. The embossing on tiers 2 & 4 represent the heavy lace work. The draping on the 1st and 3rd tiers resembled the draping of the dresses skirt.
Rippled fondant surrounds multi-shape tiers. Embossed ruffled center tier. The leafy border is from a silicone mold made from a hank of actual lace. The cream base was embossed with a plastic sheet made to use as ceiling tile in miniature houses. Fondant ribbons and gum paste focal flower.

Full size helmet I donated to the fire dept that responded to our house fire last October for their fundraising auction. Vanilla cake with vanilla almond BC and Fondx Elite fondant.
Fondant covered offset cakes. I reddened the vanilla cakes and used chocolate chips strategically place to mimic seeds. I donated this cake to the Luling Watermelon Thump auction. It brought $2000 for scholarships on June 23, 2012.
