Rio
This cake was inspired by the movie Rio. All fondant decorations. So fun to make this one and I love how it turned out. (I think it's probably mostly because I make a field trip to a local Sand Bar to get in the spirit! Nothing like dancing the night away with a fruity drink to get the creative juices flowing! hehe)

Happy Birthday Peanut
This is my new favorite cake! So fun to make! For the characters I made little templates from photos online, cut out the shapes in beige fondant, then just freehand painted the characters. Only Snoopy and his house are 3d. The house is a RKT. I use black airbrush coloring and a tiny (1/18) paintbrush to paint on all the black details. The girl teared up when she picked it up!

Peacock Wedding
I traveled to FL to make this for a friend. She wanted a peacock theme, but didnt want it to be too busy. The peacock feathers are piped on with royal to look like the ones on the invitations. The sugar flowers were a lot of fun to make. First time doing the lillies and they are SO fun and easy! Loved em! TFL!

Buttercream 40
so... it's been awhile since I posted any cakes on here. But even though this one is pretty simple in design, it is actually my first 3 tiered buttercream cake. (The accents are of course fondant). Being a fondant girl, I always cringe when people ask for a buttercream base- plus the fact that I live in phoenix and the day I delivered this it was 114 degrees out. EEK! Used a smooth buttercream, hot bench scraper and viva to get it super smooth.

Photo Wedding
This cake was for a couple who were having a 10 year vow renewal. The picture on top is a fondant frame on a bit of cardboard and the picture is of their wedding 10 years ago at where the eloped to Vegas. I almost never pipe scroll work because I am not very good at it, but I like how this one turned around. I used Edna's wonderful tutorial on calla lillies- SO fun and easy!

Turtle Time
This is a cute little turtle for a 1st birthday party. This one was a 9" and there was also a matching 6" turtle smash cake. The shell is buttercream and the limbs and dots are fondant. I am loving these cake/cupcake combos because they are so quick and I can offer them to my customers who can't afford a full cake!

I'm Lovin' It!
Giant McD's cake! This was basically a 1/4 sheet pan cut in 4th's and stacked. I torted each layer, stacked and filled 4 layers, put in 8 straws for support, layed down a cake board, then stacked the remaining 4 layers. I let it chill in the freezer before I carved and crumbcoated, The french fries were so easy to make because I just took a package of Wilton fondant right out of the bag and cut it in strips. Much easier than kneeding and trying to get back to a square shape! Then I airbrushed and sprinkled sugar on for the "salt".

Poor Smushed Cake
So- this is that cake that toppled over in the car after a dog ran out in the road. Had to slam on the breaks and swerve to miss another car- so it totally detached from the base and flopped over on its side. Crazy enough the only major damage was done to the back. Luckily I hadn't attached the flowers yet, otherwise those would have been ruined. Also, I am positive that the center dowel saved the day!
