Flower Blossoms Birthday Cake
This was for my niece's 6th birthday. I have another photo that includes a little girl doing a karate kick, the only stipulation she had for the cake other than it being pink and purple. Cup cake roses, two tiered cake, and cookie pops...what else could a little girl ask for? I'll post the other picture as well since the angle is different and we removed the middle tier of cupcakes (so she could reach the cake to cut it with a sword.)

Circus Themed Cake
This cake was for the opening night of the local prep school's play, JB. Based on the story of Job, this play takes place in a circus tent and is narrated by a balloon vendor and a popcorn vendor. I learned how to do the cup cakes from this site. If you've read or seen the play you will be able to recognize the figure referrences. This cake was a huge hit and would make a great birthday cake for circus party.

Scales Of Justice 100Th Birthday Cake
Bottom-one layer book design with navy blue "leather" cover. The one time I wanted cracks in my fondant. Up close it really did look leather. Hand painted title in gold. Other details with fondant pen, scored pages painted gold as well. Scales of justic-rice krispy cake. I used grey fondant and then painted with silver luster dust. Small cakes on scales are oatmeal cake, fondant and blue shimmer dust. Probably the most dificult, intricate cake I've made.

50Th Bar Mitzvah Anniversary
Bottom is marble cake with a "Firefly" raspberry reduction and butter cream icing, draped in blue fondant to look like a table cloth. The scrolls are actually traditional jelly roll cake with a apricot cream cheese spread that was soooo fluffy and delicious. The wooden ends of the scroll are made out of gumpaste. I didn't think to do this, but if I get to make this cake again I will connect the ends together with a dowel rod so that they stand up better. They started to fall forward.

Caitlin Rocks Birthday Cake
My god daughter wanted a "rock star" themed cake with black, white and purple. She told me, "I'm really into hearts and guitars, right now. I don't know why." So this is what I came up with...a two tiered cake with black flames coming up the bottom. She loved it and her friends went wide. Not one slice was left. I do warn that black icing and a children can end up a bit messy. Lesson learned...but they had a blast!

Alice In Wonderland - The Cheshire Cat
This is my second cake. I wanted to try something colorful and whimsical, so I thought I would do a take on Alice in Wonderland. This is my first time sculpting a character and using shimmer dust. I put a little piece of cake that looks like a bite was taken out of it. I think that I will build on the same look in the future but on a larger scale. I already have an idea that would include putting Alice on the cake and some of the king's "card" men. As always, I love to get feedback from others.

First Attempt
This is the first cake for me to make. I made a test cake for my niece a few days before, but that was just to see how I did with fondant. I used cast iron skillets that belonged to my mother and grandmother to make this one. It was so exciting to see this come to life. I would love to receive feedback on this.
