Lab Coat

Pretty standard, except pocket was detailed with "stitching". Tie had a very cool red/yellow/orange mottled look from mixing different colors of fondant.

Trying Airbrushing

Just a little 6" cake that I didn't know what to do with, so decided to play. Used purple food color, but it looks blue in the photo. Tapits for the letters and a gumpaste butterfly.

Matt's Birthday

Done for a young man who turned 30 on opening day of deer season. Sides are airbrushed camo. Tent is gumpaste/fondant. Fire is pretzels and bc. Figures are fondant; antlers twisted wires dipped in chocolate.

Char's Triple Header

This cake was for my accountant's "Triple Header" party celebrating her birthday, their 25th anniversary and the 20th anniversary of her business. She asked that it be a baseball theme and very chocolate-y. Everything that you see is edible except the board and the skewers holding the banner and flags. This was a big cake; the baseball diamond is made with a 12" square cut in half and stacked and two 18" half-circles stacked. The bottom cake is a half sheet.

Quickbooks Class

I made this for the final class for a Quickbooks course that I took--class was a miserable experience, but making the cake was fun! Everything is edible except the cardboard cake board that I covered in fondant for the mortarboard top for the cap. First time using my EI printer--still working out the bugs on that, but getting there.

First Gumpaste Moth Orchid

Turned out nicely, but I still am looking for a great way to use these on a cake.

My First Gumpaste Orchid

I'm not happy with the coloring on the petals, but overall it was a good first attempt. Definitely need to get faster at this!

Flip Flops With Snowflakes

My son and his family returned from a Florida vacation on the day that we got the worst snow and ice storm of the season. What a shock it must have been to get on the plane with sun and 80's, and to get off in cold, wet yuck blowing sideways. To ease the pain I made them this flip-flops cake with snowflakes and icicles hanging off the edge.

Valentine 2008

This was a gift for a friend. Her birthday is Feb. 13, Valentine's is the 14th and their anniversary is the 17th. The tag reads "Happy Annivalenbirthday".

Superbowl 2008

Hb said "do we HAVE to have a cake? -- I'd really rather have brownies". I thought, "I can decorate brownies!" and said sure, no problem. The guys loved them.

This was my first try at a carved cake. Pretty messy to do, but turned out nice. Pumpkin spice cake with cream cheese icing. Ice cream cone tail. Fruit is real, frosted with superfine sugar.
