Linda Lou
This was inspired by a pic in an old Wilton yearbook, which I changed to fit my daughter's favourite Book, Linda Lou. It's a fantastic book about dressing up. Was one of my first 'real' cakes and made lots of mistakes but I won a prize for it when I sent a photo in to a local magazine. (Probably what sparked my hobby!)

Christmas Present Cake
My second attempt at a bow, actually found it harder this time for some reason. The pale green has been luster dusted but you can't tell from the photo. I'm pretty happy with it although now I can see all the imperfections! It's a traditional fruit Christmas cake with almond paste and fondant icing.

Fairy Toadstool House
I made this one for a competition, conveniently my daughter turned 7 at the time I needed it so it gave me a good excuse. It was my first attempt at sculpting cake and I was really happy with it, it has opened up lots of ideas for future efforts. The fairies are all the same, a tad creepy though IMO!

Birthday Butterflies
You know how a few days before making a cake you have a pretty good idea of what you plan to make? Well I had to change plans completely right when I was about to start as the fairies and butterfles I'd made out of fondant somehow went sticky. My daughter, seeing my state of panic, suggested making cookie butterflies, which saved the day. I added buttercream, cachous and edible glitter details to them. Apparently the birthday girl didn't notice the absence of fairies, whew!

Birthday Handbag
I made this for my daughter Stephanie who just turned 12, she is at that 'inbetween' age when she has outgrown fairies and butterflies and I felt the need to make something a wee bit more grown up for her. It's all rolled fondant but the colour is a bit wrong, it was bright fuchsia pink and lime green. I knew I had a winner when her friends announced it was 'cool'!!
