Ninja Turtle-Front
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle cake for child's birthday party. Cake is chocolate with vanilla bk and dark chocolate Satin Ice fondant (which tastes just like tootsie rolls). I intended to put a fondant rim on the cake before covering the entire thing and didn't realize that I'd forgotten until after I had it covered. I'm still happy with the outcome though. I'll post the back of the cake on the next post so you can see the "manhole cover" that is sitting on Don's head.

Diego's 1St Birthday
This is an adaptation of Wilton's Amazing Amazon cake. Cake is a peaches and cream cake with vanilla bc filling and icing. Animals and leaves are fondant. Grass is bc. The animals were a bit of a pain to make but it was my first time making any type of figures and I'm happy with how they turned out. I'll post a pic of all the animals. The surface of each tier looks wavy in the photos but did not in person. I don't know why that happens.

Halloween Cookies
My first decorated cookies! I used a Southern Living sugar cookie recipe and Satin Ice fondant. Also used RI for details. The web cookie is huge (6 inches). That's a dinner plate it's sitting on. Any tips for better piping. I've always stayed away from it but I really want to learn how to do it well. I figured out that it helps to only use a small amount of icing in the bag and cut the bag shorter. It gives you more control. Any other tips?

Princess Cake
I saw a lovely, perfect picture of a cake that Sugarshack made and just had to try my hand at it. My version is not even a tiny bit close to hers. The birthday girl loved it but it is probably close to my worst work. I'm not happy with how it turned out. I had to completely redo the top tier because when I woke up this morning it was leaining so bad there was no way I could show up with it. It was hideous. I had to make due and use the bulging bottom tier. How embarrassing! Oh well. I"ll try it again!

Kristin's Cake
4 layer carrot cake with orange cream cheese filling/frosting (has orange zest, hence the bits you see in the icing). Monogram is gumpaste with gold luster dust. Gold pearls are fondant. Cake was over 5 inches tall. Not happy with smoothness of frosting but it rained all day today and the frosting refused to crust. Even used crusting cream cheese recipe. Ended up using a hot knife.

First Wedding And Grooms Cakes
Grooms cake was 14" square red velvet with vanilla buttercream. New Orleans Saints logo made of fondant with gold luster dust trim. Brides cake was white with lemon filling. 14, 12, and 10. Covered in lilac fonant with fondant accents. Magnolias were gumpaste. I made a few mistakes with this cake like the second tier wasn't aligned properly and there are some finger marks that are visible because there were no borders along the base of each cake (that's how it was in the picture the MOB gave me).

Snake Cake-Photo 1
This cake was inspired by a photo posted by Sampy. Thank you so much! This cake was chocolate, vanilla and strawberry. The board it is on is 6 feet long and the snake is 5 inches wide. Totally covered in BC with GP tongue, crushed chocolate graham cracker dirt and gummy worms and spiders. Forgot to add that the eyes were plastic. Which I didn't care for but the mom who ordered the cake really wanted me to use them. The cake was for three little boys with birthdays two weeks apart. Fear Factor party.
