Fun And Funky Dots
This is a nearly 100% copy of tonedna's beautiful cake. Her cakes are so gorgeous, I don't even want to change them. This is a dummy cake I made for a wedding show last weekend. I wanted to show something fun, bright, and non-traditional. People at the wedding show loved this cake!

Elegant Wedding
This is a dummy cake that I made for my first wedding show this weekend. The swags and pearls around the tiers are brushed with pearl luster dust. I re-used the gumpaste flowers I made for my daughter's wedding cake, and now I remember her wedding whenever I look at this cake. I received many compliments about this cake at the wedding show.

Chocolate With Gold Swirls Wedding
This cake was inspired by a beautiful chocolate fondant version by 2muchsugar. Mine is chocolate buttercream with lots of gumpaste swirls painted with gold luster dust, with gold dragees added. I had fun making this one, but the chocolate BC is rather hard to work with. The cake was a triple chocolate fudge with alternating layers of chocolate ganache and raspberry cream cheese fluff fillings. The middle layer was white cake with the raspberry fluff filling. The bride and groom are serious chocolate lovers.

Love Birds On A Tree Stump
This is actually a wedding cake for a couple who wanted a non-traditional cake. It was a gluton-free lemon cake with lemon buttercream covered in fondant. The lovebirds are gumpaste painted with food color. Mushrooms, the branch, flowers, etc., are also gumpaste. This went with 150 cupcakes.

Champagne Colored Wedding Cake
This was a very simple cake that had fresh orchids added to the top of it when I got it to the venue, which you can see in the other picture. I think it turned out very nicely with the flowers. The bride was impressed that the brown chocolate fondant band matched the brown ribbon on the flowers exactly. I was happy about that myself since I couldn't get in contact with the florist to coordinate in advance!

Fire Hooper Birthday Cake
This cake is for a hoola hooper who also fire hoops. The grey gumpaste hoop on the cake is made to resemble her fire hoop which has six spike-like things that are lit. This cake seems a bit monochromatic to me, but I just couldn't come up with anything more inspiring. The sunbursts are like little balls of fire, and they're also a tie-dye look because she told me a lot of fire hoopers wear tie-dye hippy type clothes. The hoops around each tier are fondant. Gumpaste "G" for the birthday girl with some small gumpaste hoops on top. It's a chocolate Guinness/chocolate ganache cake on the bottom with lemon pound/lemon curd on the top two tiers.

Bridal Shower Cupcakes
These cupcakes match the bride's wedding colors of orange and turquoise. I got the great cupcake papers from "Bake it Pretty" I liked their web site, prices, and service. These cuppies were in four flavors. Chocolate Guinness cake/vanilla BC; lemon sour cream cake/lemon BC; coconut cake/lime BC; WASC/vanilla BC. Flowers are gumpaste. Their guests will have lots of variety.

Harley Wedding
This is the cake that goes with the Harley couple I posted earlier. The topper is all gumpaste. The bride wanted flowers in dark cherry red (the color of her motorcycle) and wedgewood. The flowers are gumpaste. I made their shirts, bandanas, her bouquet, and her Harley to match the flower colors to tie it in. The cake was a white cake with raspberry filling. It's such a funny combination of an elegant cake with the quirky topper.

Turntable Groom's Cake
I made this for my new son-in-law for his and my daughter's wedding last week. He used to be a DJ at a local radio station and he is a serious music lover, so he loved it! It's chocolate heaven. Chocolate fudge cake, chocolate ganache filling, chocolate buttercream and chocolate fondant. Gumpaste decorations. I used styrofoam under the turntable. Silver dragees for the dots on the turntable. A labor of love. : )

Baby Girl Shower
This was the first time I'd used the half height bottom tier, and I must say, I like the proportion of it. The booties, roses, leaves, and big bow are gumpaste; the rest of the decorations are fondant. It's vanilla buttercream, chocolate Guinness cake with chocolate ganache filling. This cake turned out perfectly except for a little blowout it kept getting on the back of the top tier, darn it. Thanks to 'gladds' for the design inspiration.

Chocolate On Chocolate
This was a last minute birthday cake. The lady just wanted chocolate everything with the Happy Birthday message. I just couldn't leave it "naked", so I added the seashells. This is a chocolate fudge cake w/chocolate ganache filling and chocolate buttercream. The shells are marbled white and chocolate fondant.

Xavier's First Birthday
This was for a first birthday party. The theme matches his room decor, and his initials are XLS. The toys are gumpaste; the lid is a piece of foamcore covered with fondant. Chocolate fudge cake with vanilla BC. He probably looked like the newest member of the Blue Man Tour when he was done with this cake!!

Graduation/birthday
This was a combo graduation/birthday. The cake (which I hated, BTW) was designed to match the invitation. They only gave me one lantern as a sample, so imagine 3 more in maroon & brown. Cupcakes w/her interests - "C" for her name, soccer ball, wolverine pawprint (her HS mascot), SU for Seattle University where she's going to college, and crowns because she's a princess. Milk chocolate cake, vanilla cake, vanilla buttercream, and chocolate buttercream. I'll NEVER do dark red icing on a cake again. Ugh.
