Darth Vador And The Earth
Darth Vador ~ Yellow cake, black Buttercream Icing. Spread corn syrup on eyes and nose area to make it shiny. Earth ~ 2 bundt cakes (1 yellow, 1 chocolate) with flat ends together to form a ball. All Buttercream Icing. Used a saucer plate on bottom to keep it from rolling. Used a 2-cup cylinder style measuring cup in the center holes of bundt cakes to keep them from sliding. Manipulated the icing as best as I could to achieve the smooth round shape. It survived an hour long trip to the party ~ Whew!!!

Cruis'n Down The Highway
This is made by stacking (2) 12" x 18" yellow cake layers. I used all Buttercream Icing. For the lake I made blue B/C icing and spread some corn syrup over it to make it shiny. This is how the cake looked when it was picked up. They added a few more motorcycles on the road upon arriving at the party. This pic is a from a test to make sure the motorcycles would stand up.

50Th Wedding Anniversary
This design is in a Wilton book. The diagonal lines are a lot simpler to make that they look like they are. You just ice the cake, cut a strip of waxed paper to fit the area you do not want colored, and then put a light layer of colored icing where you want it, and then take of the waxed paper. Amazingly you'll end up with a nice clean, straight line.

Baby Shower Carriage
I found this design in a Wilton book but it was designed with Rolled Fondant. I was told that there was to be NO fondant on the cake so needless to say, I iced and decorated the cake with Buttercream Icing. The carriage is made from Gum Paste decorated with royal icing. I made two carriages. It's a good thing because I broke one. They are very delicate! The whole cake was challenging but very fun!

Baby Book
This design came from a Wilton book. I couldn't find the baby angel in my area so I ended up making it with rolled fondant. The pink half circles and uppercase letters are also rolled fondant. the rattles and blocks were store bought. The drop flowers are made of royal icing (since I never could make a nice Buttercream drop flower directly on a cake). The rest of the cake is decorated with Buttercream Icing.

Christmas Present W/ Pinecones
This is a 2-layer yellow cake with Buttercream Icing tinited ivory. The bow, ribbons, and tag are rolled fondant. The pinecones are Chocolate Buttercream made using the same technique as a rose. The evergreen was made from Buttercream with the grass tip. My mother-in-law inspired me to make the pinecones using my rose tip. She had a good idea!

Strawberry Shortcake
The tiered cake was one I found on the internet. My thanks to the designer! I made it a yellow cake with Buttercream Icing. The dots, stripes, and bows are all made from rolled fondant. The Strawberry Shortcake was made of strawberry cake for my neice to "tear into" for her first birthday (I forgot the eyelashes - oops!). The cupcakes and the small strawberry are also strawberry cake. The candy pieces were bought.

Red Roses
This is a 12" white cake with White Buttercream Icing topped with approx. 50 roses. There's a Wilton book that has a similar cake on the cover with 2 shades of pink roses. I made that one a week prior to this one. My aunt wanted a white cake with red roses and so I chose the same design because I wanted to see the pink one in another color.

Musical Bassinet Baby Shower
My friend wanted a cake for a couple's Baby Shower. She handed me a blue polka-dot napkin and said they are both music instructors and told me to come with something. I incorporated musical notes on the sides and on the quilt as well as polka-dots on the quilt. It it a yellow cake with 2 - 2" layers and Buttercream Icing.

Cars Movie
I was asked to do a cake from the cars movie for a friend's 1st birthday. After much internet research I came up empty-handed. I had to look to my own brain for inspiration - Yikes! After I made this cake, I found that Wilton now has a Cars cake pan. These are yellow cakes with Buttercream Icing (althought the road is chocolate Buttercream).

Wedding Cake By Steady2Hands
I made this cake for my husband's cousin. It was my third wedding cake. It is a yellow cake with buttercream icing. The flowers were made by a florist. When the bride first showed me the picture I was worried about getting the cake as smooth as the picture but thanks to the "paper towel" method, I was happy with the outcome.
