First 6-tier cake had to be a whimsical, of course :D So much work but I was pleased with the end result. Such a fun theme, the funnest I've got this year.
Buttercream with fondant ribbon, synthetic hydrangeas. Got to use my one of my texture sheets on the ribbon; worked great!
Got to do another cupcake bouquet; found a supercute pot that inspired my colors. BC flowers, couple of scrapbook butterflies. Love how they turn out but I hate delivering them!
Some credit goes to Michele Thiberge and Gladds; the bride loved both designs of theirs and wanted to use both somehow, so this is what I came up with. Loved doing it, and loved how it came out.
He's All Boy...
This is one of those that went a completely different direction than it started out...and therefore ran after 11:30pm and got the "I don't care, I'm throwing it all on!" finish (kinda sloppy). BC with gumpaste cap and bear, fondant letters, and lots of chocolate molds!
My bride was inspired by Michelle Thiberg's b&w creation, and I was so excited to get to try something similar. BC with satin ribbons, RI pieces. Getting this shade of burgundy took a few jars of coloring!
Small wedding 14/10 inches. She wanted a simple black & white design; as usual, I found something to use for a pattern but I'm too lazy to transfer it to the cake, so I freehanded the design in BC. I love brush embroidery so I had to put a little of that in there too. TFL!
Simple June Wedding
Very simple summery wedding cake to start off this summer. BC with fondant flowers. I delivered as is since I'd heard of others on CC delivering even 6-tier cakes in one. It worked great- with lots of doweling, of course!
My second version of this cake; don't like to repeat designs but this one is pretty fun and I did funner colors than last time. BC with real rubber duckies and fondant accents.
Hunter Loves His Labs
Hunter who loves his two labradors; all BC. The dog face was brushed after it was applied to look painted. I did 3 different hunting scenes around the side divided by the cattails since I couldn't figure anything else out. I was clueless for a hunting theme but I enjoyed it afterall. TFL!
Mom wanted 3 tiers of Princess, so I had fun combining different aspects. All BC with cobblestone impression, diamond impression, RI tiara, white choc shoe, fondant drapings on top, gumpaste 4.
Jeep Wrangler Sport
First time doing anything like this, and now I can cross a carved auto cake off my list! Curiosity satisfied :) It was a surprise for the groom by the bride. Fondant covered choc cake, RKT tires. All fondant / gumpaste / RI finishing touches.
Purple/orange Topsy Turvy
Got to do another whimsical! BC with some fondant flowers, chocolate numbers.
B&w With Daisies
I wanted someting untraditional for my sister's shower, but I wanted it to be cheery. I used 4 different fabrics to wrap the favors in so I matched the cake designs to them. All BC, real tissue paper on the wedges.
Lucky 7S Poker
BC with RI cards & '30', fondant poker chips. I love doing whimsicals, even though they're more work. They bring more 'fun' to a cake. The birthday girl was ecstatic, and that's the most important thing, right?!
A friend who lost her home in the Greensburg, KS tornado asked me for a baby shower cake. We haven't seen each other since high school but I liked bringing a little happiness to someone who'd had a rough 2007. It traveled 2 1/2 hours & made it okay. Yay! Bathtub is carved styrofoam covered in RI with Luster Dust. Fondant green accents on real rubber duckies.
I enjoy doing drop flowers! And this gave me an excuse to try the impression mat I just ordered.
Lavender/blue Fresh Flowers
First fresh flowers cake. I loved getting to do it, but they're more work than they look like.
Clothesline Baby Shower
Matched cake up to the napkin brought by host. I didn't want to use fondant, so I made a few stencils for clothes shapes, then sprayed them on. After that I piped on BC outlines and designs.
My DH made the wooden base for me. I put dowels attached to the base so I just slid the cakes on- then I knew they wouldn't slide. 3 layers, basket weave in BC. RI shade and handle made a week ahead of time. RI flowers and real toys for the mama to keep. Rolled BC blanket, marked with a fondant cutter, sprayed yellow.
RI flowers on chocolate cupcakes. I sent these to the retirement village for the nurses who care for my grandmother, as a thank you. I filled the pots with mini candy bars, then covered them with a cake circle, which I glued the half styro ball too. Then add cupcakes and butterflies! More work than I thought, but went together well.
RI Cadillac symbol. The birthday boy wanted a cadillac that covered a 14in round, but since they needed more cake I asked if a 10in round would do for the top. It was a lot of work, then painted with LD, but I loved the end result.
FBCT for little mermaid, with RI fins. Choc shells with LD. RI Corynna. I love cakes where you don't have smooth everything out! First iced with swirly blue, then sprayed some darker blue for more of a water look.
