Hoping I won with this cake. It is a chocolate 3-layer cake with whipped frosting and covered in ganache.
old wilton pan I found on ebay.
This was for my son's T-ball team party. The hat is like the team's hats. Whipped frosting, homemade fondant
with IMBC, filled with marionberry filling
This is the back view of my niece's cake...everyone insisted I put a bow on her butt:P
This one was for my niece, who turned 3. It was my 1st attempt at the Barbie cakes. I used a real Barbie for it, covered in saran. I wonder how people box up these though. They're huge;) will post a back view as well.
All foliage, no flowers...just green for May birthdays at my husband's work.
8" square cake. Toba's fondant for the daisies and ribbon. IMBC covering the cake.
close up shot of basketweave on hexagon cake
This is for a 4-year-old girl. Lemon chiffon cake with lemon whipped frosting. I used a 2-layer 8 inch round and a 1-layer 6 inch petal pan. Tink is from decopac.
Whipped frosting. I striped the bag for the roses but used colored frosting on one side instead of just painting gel color on the bag. It turned out alot nicer, I think.
This is IMBC. I did a FBCT for the tractor but just piped on the trailer behind it.
This is IMBC, piped roses, blossoms and dropped flowers. Used a leaf tip for the top border. Bottom border is just a reversed shell
I had so much fun with this cake, mainly because I love those movies and am currently reading the books... I had alot of ideas bouncing around and thanks to all the people on the decorating forum who helped me sort through all that;)
It was really hard to get the top edge smooth on this cake since it was rounded. I would have really liked to have used fondant for it but that wasn't what was ordered...
Here's a close-up of the tulips on the cake. They're tiny fondant tulips. I just used a 5-petal cutter and then wrapped around the end of a dowel...pretty simple.
This was for the garden club. A member is going away and they wanted tulips for it.
My 2 year old's birthday cake
I made strawberry cake with buttercream and toba garrett's fondant recipe.
I finished my wilton classes a couple years ago and this was the cake. It's pretty much like everyone else's cake that went by the book. I didn't do the little cut-out flowers on it though. I wanted to appreciate the smooth fondant.
Here are the buttercream ruffles peeking out under the fondant
only round instead of oval
