White Bag With Mobile Phone
usually cakes look better in the flesh than a picture, but in this case, the picture makes it look better than it actually was....ive NEVER been able to cover a cake perfectly coz it always rips! so i have to resort to cutting pieces (front and back) and sticking them together...i just wish i was good enough!
my little boys first birthday!! one of his toys matched this cake, carved yellow cake all fondant, with royal icing roof and sea. trying to redeem myself after that awful shrek cake!!! (the pic was taken AFTER he'd pulled the sheeps ears and arms off :)
my very first floodfill, maybe i shouldnt try such a complex shape next time...this is the first one of the cakes that had to be done in 5 days along with the shrek! the shiny parts on the cake is just water,....is there anyway of making your royal icing stick to your fondant cake without drenching it in water!!!????
Shrek Cake (True Colours)
really bad attempt at shrek i know....but this picture shows more of the true colours (got a really crap camera!!)
Igloo, Penguins, Seals And Polar Bears!!
lady wanted a cake for her auntie...she left the design entirely up to me so i thought id tryan igloo cake (wanted to do one for ages!!) little figures are inspired by my xmas cards!!
18Th Birthday Cake
buyer requested girl who had been shopping, with a crown on her head to be sitting on top. Bottom tier..normal sponge with vanilla buttercream, top tier is chocolate with vanilla buttercream. all fondant (figure is mexican modelling paste)...first time ive covered a cake without getting 'folds'!! yay...but i got rips instead...im posting a note in the forum.please help me out....
Sesame Street Oscar The Grouch Rear View
just the back of oscar, with heart blanket (coz hes a softy really!!) planks of wood, pepsi can and egg on the bin!!
Sesame Street Oscar The Grouch Front View
well we all know who this is!! thanks to all you CC members who helped me with the 'fur' but in the end i had to use the star tip...i had nothing else!!, i think im getting abit better at cakes now but i still nedd loads of practise. dustbin was strawberry cake, oscars head is lemon swiss roll thats carved and the rest is fondant! and of course you cant leave the cutey slimey out!
My 2Nd Horse Box
this is my second horse box....ive had a few people out there who have copied my first one and they did a great job!! now try this one :) its one of the easiest horse cakes i think.
Batley The Gnome
stump is chocolate cake, gnome is normal sponge with raisins, all fondant and all edible....buyer requested the gnome to be called batley!
Mini Tow Mater
just a practise cake....and i still have loads to learn! this was a total mess! im forever accidently sticking my nails into the icing! hes really small...so i couldnt put on as much detail as id liked, but he was just a practise...im so glad i didnt have to do this for anyone....it was a nightmare!
practise cake....need SOO much more practise, if any of you feel sorry for me please message me on how to make figures that dont crack! what icing do you use? how do you cover a cake without getting creases and tears with the slightest pulling. id love to be able to make cakes...but they annoy me so much when icing rips all the time! any recipes for icing would be brilliant! chocolate cake, strawberry filling, all fondant, (champagne bottles are candles)
Playboy Bag And Purse
3 chocolate sponge cakes layered, cut and tipped on their side. covered in fondant. For a girl who just LOVES pink handbags!!
Mr Potato Head - Practise Cake
my first buttercream cake (i usually use fondant) i tried the viva method but because im from england..i used greaseproof paper (think you call this wax paper) i dont know how anyone can get that smooth! i would love someone to message me with full instructions!! :) by the way...he has no arms...they were still drying :)
Futurama - Bender
i think this is the only futurama cake on cake central! of course its bender the robot. i hate this cake...it totally stressed me out, and i definatly wont be making another one!
another cake done in the same style as the teddy and the horse one.....seems to be popular with 1st birthdays!
pillars are chocolate rolls....all covered in fondant. everything edible apart from the little girl sat on the top.
easy cake to do...no messing with smoothing out icing....just slap on buttercream and stick chocolates on!!
i wouldnt recommend making your own fondant spiderman for the top!!it drove me crazy!! cake was made from ideas people gave me in one of the forums....the boy who it was made for was more interested in pulling the cars off..he kept saying they were like the ones he had at home!
Tatty Teddy Cake
heres a cake done in the same style as my horse cake, except the buyer requested chocolate buttons instead of smarties!...i think i could have done better as it was a little rushed.
this is about the best cake ive done!! and to be honest it was easier than the other ones! i cut the cake into a cube n just covered it with fondant icing....even the 2 smaller parcels are bits of cake too! the horse is made out of chocolate flavoured fondant. it was a birthday cake for a girl who loves horse riding and has always wanted her own horse...so i thought id give her one :)
Dora The Explorer Cake
this was a dora the explorer cake for a 4 year old....there are flowers and bushes all the way round the cake......the bit im really not happy with is the model on the top...its done with fondant with a gum additive (supposed to aid in modelling) but it was just so hard...and as it dried it started to crack..if anyone knows how to do better modelling please leave your comments...im so stuck!!!
