2009 Austin Cake Show Entry

12", 10", 8", 6". Topper is a gumpaste bowl filled with gumpaste flowers. Everything fondant or gumpaste except the top tier border, tried to do a Lambeth "inspired" thing there with shells and stringwork.

Valentine's Day Cookies

NFSC with Antonia's RI. Cookies were made with soy margarine due to my son's milk allergy. Nobody seemed to notice!

Barbara's Wedding Cake

This is the cake I made for my sister's wedding in August '06 - my very first wedding cake! 14", 10", 6", all MMF and royal icing. Flowers/stems are painted with super pearl/vodka. Inspired by a beautiful cake from HollyPJ. This replaces a photo which was deleted in error.

These were for my son's birthday treat at preschool. I copied the idea from a picture I found posted on the Wilton forums. They were a lot harder than I expected they would be, and I'm afraid I didn't do them justice, but luckily I don't think the preschoolers will care! Thank goodness birthdays only roll around once a year, it was a lot of work!! :)

Happy Birthday To Me!

A birthday cake I made for myself, trying to recreate Bronwen Webber's "mojito" cake. 8" white cake brushed with lime and mint infused simple syrup, with lime curd filling. Flowers are fondant cutouts, all the rest is buttercream. I got the idea from a Wilton wedding cake book. Thanks for looking!

Avery's Jungle Baby Shower

An 8" round covered in MMF. Animals are half-gumpaste, half-fondant.

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse

An alternate title for this cake could be "The Things We Do For Love" - a cake for my 4 year old son, Christopher. This is a 14" one layer square covered in buttercream with a half-ball pan for the red part of the clubhouse covered in fondant. The black parts are styrafoam balls covered in fondant. Hand, shoe, and slide are part-fondant, part-gumpaste. Thank you especially to allissweets and mmichelew for inspiration from your cakes.

Mickey Mouse Cookie Bouquet

My cookie cutter finally arrived and so I made a Mickey Mouse bouquet for my son's Mickey-themed 4th birthday party!

Twins Baptism

A cake for the baptism of boy-girl twins. 9" and 4.5" square covered in MMF. Gumpaste cross, handmade fondant and gumpaste flowers. Half-fondant, half-gumpaste drapes dusted with Antique Silk dust. Thanks to DianesSweetTreats.com for the design idea.

Kim's Fall Wedding

A 6", 9", 12" hexagon cake for a fall-themed wedding. Iced in buttercream with artificial leaves and a fresh flower topper. It was my first time with a hexagon shape wedding cake, and it was a little more challenging than I anticipated. The reception hall looked absolutely beautiful with all the autumn themed decorations!

This is of course a copy of Antonia74's beautiful cake in the gallery. The mom throwing this bridal shower for her daughter wanted something "funky" for her vivacious and outgoing daughter. She loved this design - thank you Antonia for making me look good! It's a 9" and 6", fondant with fondant accents and satin ribbon around each base, and fresh gerber daisies.

Pink And Green Giraffe Invitation

A cake designed to match the invitation to the shower. 9" and 6", everything is fondant. I am loving the way this turned out!
