Rat And Cheese
This cake was for a little girl who has a pet rat. Her father gave me a picture of the rat so that I could copy it as closely as possible. The rat is fondant/gumpaste and the cheese is a 10" cake iced in buttercream and then airbrushed. TFL
Piano For Ray Charles' Son
Ray Charles' son was in town (New Orleans) for some movie work and attended a small reception that a friend of mine catered. He asked me to do the cake for the event and it was a hit. Ray Jr. said that the only other time he remembered eating a cake that tasted that good was at a birthday party for Stevie Wonder. Image that!!!!! This was carved from a 12" square. Covered in MMF. Thanks to my friend Linda for helping with all the little keys!!!!! I could not have finished the cake in time w/out her!!
Trumpet In Case
This is a groom cake for that I delivered to a mansion in uptown New Orleans. I was able to do this cake thanks to the class I recently took with Sharon Zambito. She taught the technique to do a package cake with a box top and I used that to do the sides and lid of this cake. I could not have done it without her.
Spaceship And Planets
This cake is basically a five tier wedding cake that is iced over the sides to hide the separator plates. The bottom layer is a 12", the next is a 10" with the top edge carved in, then two 8" layers then the wonder mold. The planets are all half ball pans and are chocolate cake. The "SAM" on the ship stands for "St. Angela Merici" and it was for space camp night for all the 2nd graders and their parents.
My Daughter Designed This Cake For Her 8Th Birthday Party
I am thinking of using her to design all my cakes now. I love how this turned out. She picked the shapes, colors, etc. The top and bottom layer were red velvet with pecan cream cheese filling. The middle layer is white almond with buttercream.
First Wedding Cake
I have a whole new appreciation for all cake artists who do wedding cakes on a regular basis - and sometimes more that one a weekend. I am so tired - this cake almost kicked my butt. Seems like I worked on it forever. I am happy with the way it turned out but still have to work on those corners a little more.
Trout Groom Cake
The fish is fondant over green floral foam. The cake is a 12" yellow with cream cheese pecan filling. It is my first time using my airbruch to make water. It sure is a lot easier than tinting all that butter cream.
Baby Feet Cake In 3 Colors Of Blue
Here is my version of the baby feet cake. It ended up being 3 different shades of blue because as a newbie I discovered that fondant and buttercream airbrushed with the same color don't turn out the same color. Anyhow, as DH said "good save." I added a 3rd color blue and it made it looked like it was planned that way - "yeah, I meant to do that!"
Happy Birthday Jesus Cross Cake
I made the bottom layer of this cake with a 12" square with two 6" squares. The top cross is 8" sq with two additional 4" square. Red velvet cake with cream cheese filling iced in Sugar Shacks buttercream. Man I love that stuff!!! Holly trim is all fondant.
This cake is made for a young man graduating from helicopter pilot school. The helicopter body is made from floral foam covered with fondant. The rest is made with cake dowels, cookie sticks and craft sticks all hot glued together. The bottom is made of floral wire I bent around and then painted black. The cakes are 8" and 10".
This is a 10" round and an 8" round that was cut for the bottom of the beard and the extension on his hat. The face is all fondant and the sides are iced in buttercream with a large star tip. Fudge cake with Godiva choc BC.
Spiderman Bust And Cup Cakes
Here is my attempt at the Spiderman bust. The webs are not an easy feat to accomplish. I also tried some royal icing webs for the first time which I stood up on the back of some matching cupcakes.
This ladybug matched the party invitations from Party City. Kind a cute, funky colored bug.
Pink Diva Cake
This cake was designed to match the party invitations. First time doing shoes - those little suckers are harder than they look! Pearls and black dots sure take a lot of time. All in all, this was a fun cake to do. Thanks for looking.
Elvis Birthday Cake
This was one of the most unusual birthday cake requests I have ever gotten. The mom is a huge Elvis fan - named her son Presley. She picked out her six favorite Elvis movies and I made fondant plaques to go around the hex tier. The blue suede shoes and teddy bear are in tribute to her two fav songs. The Elvis on the top was made by scanning the picture on the party plates and putting that on fondant also.
Alligator Carved Cake
This cake was for my daughter's 6th birthday. We took her whole class out on a real swamp tour. The cake was made using the largest oval pan from Wilton for the body and the next smaller size for the head. I also used an 8" round for the legs. The fins on its back are from choc candy melts and the toes are tootsie rolls. This cake was a lot of fun, especially when I saw the reaction from her classmates.
Ghost Cake With Cookies And Smash Cake
This is officially my first disaster cake. While delivering the large 3 tiered cake to a co-worker at work I walked right into a short pole near the front door of my office building designed to keep cars from hitting the glass doors. Anyhow, I slam-dunked this cake. It fell into a million pieces - but stayed in the box. So everyone got to eat wedding cake for breakfast. Luckily I had time the next day to remake it and deliver it in time for the party. Talk about aggrevation!!!!!
Yellow Mystic Ranger Power Ranger
I copied the idea for this from some of the spider man cakes I've seen on CC. I did have to add alot of extra icing to the wig form to make it look like a helmet. As a result of my research for this cake, I now know more about Power rangers than I will ever need to know!!!!
Bouquet With Suits Of Cards, Joker And King
Finally had someone order an arrangement with the suits of cards. I had to hand cut the "deck of cards." I used my Mardi Gras jester hat for the joker. I like the way this one turned out.
Still getting used to the color blending on the leaves. Also tried it on the deer fur and it turned out pretty neat. TFL
This is for my friend's husband's birthday. The large alligator and small alligators are all choc molds. I used Wilton green candy melts and then colored them with dusts. The cypress knees, lillies and cattails are all done in fondant. The icing is Toba's Godiva choc recipe. The cake is butter fudge. TFL!!!
Little Mermaid, Ariel Cake
Here is my version of the mermaid cake. First time trying the RI coral and it turned out pretty decent. White choc sea shells, edible images on fondant for all the animals, fondant tail. Bottom layer is 14" petal pan.
Motorcycle Birthday Bouquet
I dreaded doing these cookies because I had never used my motorcycle cutter before so I didn't know how to decorate them. The customer had also given me a picture of her husband's bike and wanted me to match them as closely as possible. Well, they actually turned out pretty well. The customer said that they were better than she anticipated - so I guess that's good enough for me!!!!!
Brown And Pink Arrangement
I searched every site I could on the net to find a cutter in the shape of lipstick and could not find anything so I had to hand cut this. The purse was hand cut also. I like the quilting pattern that so many of you do on your cakes that I tried it with the icing on the purse. It worked petty well but I had to keep going over it until the icing dried.
All White Anniversary Cake
This cake was for 3 couples all celebrating their anniversaries with a road trip. I had so many dowels in this small cake I think you could have flipped it and it would have stayed together!!!
