Almost 60
Everything for this cake was made using recipes from The Whimsical Bakehouse - layer banana cake, thin layer of bittersweet chocolate, layer of french custard, thin layer of bittersweet chocolate, layer of banana cake, covered with praline buttercream and then covered with chocolate glaze. All were first time tries as well as the chocolate characters and lettering. The characters are 58 going out, 59 partying and 60 coming soon just to rub it in. Need practice on using chocolate but cake combo was delicious

Chameleon
My niece picked this out of Colette Peters book "Cakes to Dream On" for her birthday cake. I ran out of time so it's not exactly what I planned but the birthday girl absolutely loved it. She named him Carl and it became a big joke for the adults when it was time to cut it. All fondant covered.

Beer Gift
I didn't want to do a traditional Over the Hill cake so this is what I came up with for my boss' 50th birthday. He likes to have a cold beer on the weekends so I gave him a six pack on ice. The "ice cubes" are clear rocks used for flower arranging. The cake, which is under the beer level, is two 11" x 3" layers of white cake with raspberry filling iced in buttercream. Beer cans and lid are styrofoam covered in fondant. The bottom board has "You know your old when..." sayings all around.
