AThe hair salon where I get my hair done is setting up booths in an extra room they have and are going to have a one that sales jewelry and another that sales cakes/desserts. Cake lady is mainly going to take orders there, but has said that she plans to sell smaller things there (I'm guessing brownies and stuff).

Out of curiosity, would the hair salon need a food type permit to do that?

Ai doubt the hair salon could get licensed to sell food -- hair plus food no -- but it just depends on the local rules & regulations -- it's a definite maybe

Ai would think that the brownies etc. should be sold pre-packaged from an approved facility -- they should not be sold on a napkin from a pan or anything for on site consumption in a hair salon --

I agree with K8. It depends on your area. Where I live that would be a No No. To sell food you have to have separate facilities and separate storage. Please check with your local health department and they can tell you. With the chemicals in the salon it would prolly be damn near impossible for them to get a permit.

AAs a hairstylist, that is a no no, and they run the risk of being heavily fined when State Board pops up.

Packaged products sourced from approved facilities are allowed in my state, but only if sold in the original package.    

Are you the "cakelady"? or trying to undercut or get rid of her, just your posts are all about recipes you need and pricing etc lol!

That's what I was wondering about. I like my hair stylists and I would hate for them to get in trouble.

AIt could be different where you live. I know that it is not permitted here. Have the owner contact the board just to be sure. They do like to pop up unannounced lol and it would suck to get fined.
