ASo today I delivered two cakes to the royal show for the decorated cake competition, after thinking how different my modern wedding cake was, I get there and theres a three tiered version of my two tiered one. Once I had told myself it was ok and theres no way either of us couldve know... I get home and look at the photos of my other cake... And I realise I have left the H out of birthday, so it says "happy birtday" I am so disappointed I had put so much work into them and really thought I had a chance to win something but now feel like I've let myself down

ASo are you saying you both entered a design previously done before? Aren't there rules about submitting original work for competition?

yes there are rules unique to each competition -- ossas for example often says that you can't use something that you previously entered in another competition --

one competition i entered had the rule that it had to be a cake that could actually be rendered in real time for a client --

you can't submit someone else's work has to be yours so in that respect yes original

AThat would be an excellent rule, only something you could actually complete in a reasonable amount of time.

K8memphis, you are always so kind in your response to all of us. What u said to Owatto, should make her feel so much better. When I enter our state fair, I always say as I am decorating, I worked hard on this, so did the next person. If I win, I win, if I loose I loose. I will try again next year. I try to go into any completion with  my heart and soul!! So Owatto, you tried hard, the others did too. we all learn from our mistakes. K8memphis, I always enjoy reading your responses. I can,t say it enough!!!

@owatto You're a winner to your happy customers, and to many of us by just making such beautiful and detailed cakes. :)

And for posting your lovely goodies to inspire and encourage people like me.  Competitions are too stressful, and place unrealistic pressure on people, the cake that you call disappointing is probably beautiful beyond belief.

ADear Owatto, Thank you for your entry to CakeWrecks, but I am sorry to tell you that you are ineligible. Unfortunately, the standard of your work is far too high to qualify for a CakeWreck. Yes, you produced a two tier cake and we have a similar three tier cake in the gallery (but your finish was superior, so you are out of the race there).

The judges were particularly impressed with your last minute effort to win the title with the omission of the letter "h" from the word birthday, but I'm very sorry that your skill level still places you out of the category of CakeWrecks.

Please try harder next year. We would prefer a complete collapse, perhaps some mould growth, or just inappropriate use of body parts in a cake.

AThanks everyone! My fiance tried telling me I had just created a cake for Bert and its his day lol Winniemog, that is hilarious!! I think maybe 6 or 7 people had seen it and not noticed... So I was hoping the judges wouldn't notice it... The results are out and I didn't get anything, which I didn't expect to after all this. But now the show is open I can show you all the cakes...
