AHi :) I would just like to know, if I wanted to make a tall 9" square cake that would be about 9 layers high (roughly 1" layers) would I need to use a cake board at some point actually within the layers or is it safe to just pile them on top of eachother? Thanks :)

Ayou are right -- not safe -- you could get maybe 6" tall w/o internal support in a free standing one tier cake -- so with your nine 1" layers you'll be at almost 11" tall with filling & icing -- halfway up give or take you need a board & dowel --

AI add cake boards and dowels every 4-5 inches when I do tall cakes.
