AJust finished my first wedding cake, might be my last wedding cake after the frustration with orchids breaking on me.

AA giant cupcake and a Mystery Machine from Scooby doo for me this week. I had to re bake my cakes as I used a different chocolate and the cakes came out like concrete. I then had no power for a whole day as they were replacing a light pole across the street. It was too cold to ganache. So I ended up another day behind. I did catch up on Friday and even managed to get three dozen rum balls done for a Christmas in July function. Very glad to be done and dusted tomorrow I can rest.If the upload didn't work I will do them from my laptop later. I am on my phone at the moment I can still get into my old account from it. But can't change the password cause I don't remember the old one.

The cakes this week look great! Sorry I haven't been around much. As I mentioned, I'm on location for my photography work this week. Yesterday I had my toes on a purple sand beach in Big Sur. Simply amazing!

Chelle...I would have been SOOOO panicking! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that nothing of the sort happens to me when I get home since I will have just 2 days to do a cake and no time for screw ups from the power company or our A/C!

Cara...Love your wedding cake and your barn yard cake is just adorable!

Canacake...orchids are wired flowers and I SUCK at wiring so I feel your pain! But your cake is just lovely!

Reen...love your golf balls and your shower cake made me laugh. Most of those belly cakes are disturbing but yours is hysterical!

Hope everyone has a great weekend! I am "off" for the next two day and then back to work on Monday for my last day of shooting! See you all next Friday!

Gorgeous wedding table! Cake looks beautiful, it would take me longer than a week ;)

Love love love the horses!

It was my first time making wired flowers like that where each petal is done individually. To top it off I have never taken a cake decorating or gum paste class and have only done about 10 cakes since I started trying to learn, so lots of trial and looots of errors haha. I started practicing the flowers three weeks before the cake needed to be done to be sure they would look good.

Good thing too, the wedding was a small backward event and pretty casual (for family) and my husband didn't secure our dog well in the front seat when we went to leave so he tried to jump into the back seat onto the cake! I stopped it before any real damage happened, the flowers on one side were all broken but the fondant was untouched. I rushed back in a and swapped them out with some of my extra practice ones. Thank goodness I made so many!

I'm very new to baking and just do it as a hobby but I thought I would share the cupcake dress and bouquets that I did for a friends shower this weekend. It was my first try at a cupcake bouquet. Cupcake dress and bouquets for a bridal shower.

Aww that's a very cute hello kitty cake! How did you make the stripes to line up perfectly? Mine would probably look wavy! Lol

Thank you! My trick was I used a measuring tape and I placed it straight around the cake and poked some holes with the needle, this way I knew where to place the stripes :)
