AMy niece is turning 8 and she asked for a three layer cake with strawberries, chocolate drizzles, and a Littlest Pet Shop dog. I'm trying to figure out how in the world I'm going to make that all fit together! I know the dog will pretty much cover the whole top of the 6" layer. I'm thinking about using some candy melt in pinks and purples to match the dog and making ruffles with it. Those will go at the bottoms of the layers to cover some of the brown chocolate and add some feminine color. Any advice is appreciated!

Scale it down and explain to her that she can't have everything she wants. How many people is this for?

Just my opinion.

Ok, first, take a deep breath. Now, is she wanting a 3 "layer" cake or a 3 "tier" cake? These are very different terms and are not the same. Three layers makes one cake. On the other hand, three tiers are three separate cakes that are then either stacked or combined using pillars. I have made small 3 tier cakes that serve 12-15 people, using smaller pans and the top is a cupcake.

Just make sure you know how many people  you are wanting to serve and what it is she is really asking, and you will be fine.

AThank you for the replies! It's taken me a while to answer. .. busy and all that. Here is a pic of how it turnedout Not my choice for design but it's what she wanted. The dog was made out of fondant and gumpaste. The ring around the bottom tier is chocolate and purple candy melt.
