Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has read Gretchen Price's ebook "Guide to Owning a Bakery" and what you thought of it, or how it compares to other bakery books out there (such as Mimi Shotland's).

I also noticed there are two versions of what I am assuming is the same book ... there is "The Crumb Boss's Guide to Owning a Bakery" and there is "Gretchen Price's Guide to Owning a Bakery." Wondering if there is any difference between her former and latter version/edition.

Thanks so much!!!

Thanks Jason!

Yes, I read those reviews as well, but still wondering what fellow cc members may have read the book as well.

Also still wondering about the Crumb Boss version versus the later edition.

Thanks!

Do you mean Mimi Shotland Fix? (Or MimiFix, as she prefers to be known by her fellow CC members.)

Yes, I guess I was referring to your books, MimiFix (Don't I feel sheepish :o looool). What an honor to have your expertise here on cake central!

Okay so it sounds like Gretchen Price had to redo all of her videos and even rewrite or rename her books after her business manager or business partner parted ways. So I guess it would be wiser to order the later version of the book, not the Crumb Boss one.

Thanks for your help.

Why thank you! But to point out, mine isn't about owning a bakery specifically, it's more about mistakes people make when they start any kind of home-based business. So if you're looking for "how not to screw up royally" it will help, but it won't help you to open a bakery.

When I was looking into owning a coffee shop, those types of readings were uber helpful, because they didn't glamorize the whole "owning your own business" thing and it gave real-life examples of pitfalls. Made me wait two years to do proper research, then I ended up moving to an area where the demographics were not good for one. I still dream though~
